1. If you haven’t felt like quitting, your dreams aren’t big enough.

This may seem like a paradox, but sometimes if it’s too easy, you can dream bigger and continue to challenge yourself.

2. Take pride in how far you’ve come.

At times, it will seem like you have so far to go. Instead, look at how far you’ve come.

3. This is the time for memories.

Don’t take these four years for granted. Follow the cliché and live life to the fullest.

4. Your grades don’t define you.

While grades are important, don’t let it ruin your week. You are more than a grade or a GPA.

5. It will be worth it.

All that effort that you put into that one assignment, all of that time you spent working on that project… it will be worth it in the end.

6. You’re learning about yourself even if you don’t realize it.

Hard experiences shape you even without you noticing. You’ll look back and realize how much you’ve grown.

7. Being scared is normal.

The future is scary. College is scary. It’s okay, and it’s normal to feel this way.

8. Just be positive.

Negative thoughts won’t help you succeed, but positive thoughts will keep you going.

9. Sometimes you need time for yourself.

It’s okay to spend time alone every once in a while. In fact, it’s highly necessary and healthy to recharge.

10. Just do your absolute best.

Even if you don’t do well on an assignment, if you can look back and say you tried your best, that’s what counts.

11. Take joy in the journey.

This is your life and your experience over four years. Never stop enjoying it.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way.
