Most have gone back to school already or are just about to go back, I started thinking that maybe we all need some encouragement to start the year. I know I always need some encouragement and I know that the start of school is always tough for everyone. I just want to give you all some encouragement from my heart. These are just some things I feel that everyone needs to hear.

1. Keep fighting

It's hard to want to do something in a class like physics or world literature when it might not be something you enjoy doing, but fight til the end because it will be worth it.

2. You are enough

Now that school is starting back up, the grade you make seems to hold all of your value. However, just because you get horrible grade on a paper doesn't mean you have lesser value.

3. Your value doesn't decrease based on someone's inability to see your worth

Not even that, but sometimes be refuse to see all that you are. Just because a teacher, administrator or student doesn't see your worth doesn't me that you don't have value.

4. It's okay to not be okay

Most of us feel the need to hide what we feel, but the thing is, it's totally okay to not be okay. We all have bad days, but we don't need to be ashamed of those bad days.

5. Remember, it's only a bad day, not a bad life.

You can even have a series of bad days, but a few bad days doesn't equal a bad life...ever.

6. Comparison will steal your joy

It's so easy to look at everyone around you and think about how much smarter, more talented or better looking. But just try to be content with where you are in your current situation.

7. Just be yourself

It's pretty cliche but it's true. It's also easier said than done. In a world that wants you to conform to a certain look, it's hard to be who you were meant to be. At the end of the day, being yourself will make you so much happier.

8. Don't lose hope

Maybe not now, but when you start to feel the school year doldrums, don't lose hope in yourself. You will push through, and you will finish.

9. Cherish the moments

Regardless if you're in high school or in college, your time in school comes to a close. The biggest mistake I made in high school was wishing it away. It's easy to wish your current situation away, but you'll end up regretting it.

10. Avoid judging

More often times than not, when you judge someone for doing something, you've done the same thing that person does. Whenever I avoid judging someone, I find myself enjoying life a little more.

11. This too shall pass.

No matter what you're going through, no matter how tough of a time you're going through, it will end. Nothing can last forever, good or bad.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
