11 Dr. Seuss Quotes You Need To Hear Right Now If You're In College

Apologies in advance for the corniness, but trust me, you need to hear it.

1.

“You’ll miss the best things if you keep your eyes shut.”

It’s cliché, but college years are where you’ll find the best opportunities around every corner. Keep your eyes open for new adventures and chances to branch out and open up. You never know what you might miss if you don’t.

2.

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.”

You are more than capable of following your dreams and being successful. Have faith in yourself in whatever you choose to do, even if it's new an a bit scary. If your mind and effort to it, you can achieve it.

3.

“If you never did you should. These things are fun, and fun is good.”

We get so overwhelmed with school work, clubs, events, jobs, etc., that sometimes we forget we need to leave some time for us to just have some fun. Try something new, or do something that makes you happy just for the hell of it.You deserve to have some fun for yourself.

4.

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

Be a life-long learner. Soak up as much information as you can wherever you go, and you’ll carry that intelligence with you your whole life. There’s always more to see, learn, and understand, so don’t ever stop expanding your knowledge because who knows where it’ll lead you.

5.

“I know it is wet and the sun is not sunny, but we can have lots of good fun that is funny.”

We’re all gonna have rainy days that we just can’t wait to get through, but there’s always something to smile at, even in the darkest moments. I guarantee if you find one thing to make you laugh, you’ll feel just a little bit better.

6.

“Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.”

It’s so easy to let our busy lives overwhelm us as we try to understand where we’re supposed to go and what we’re supposed to do. But take a deep breath and go day by day, and eventually, you’ll find your way. Trust yourself and follow your instincts, and try not to make life more complicated than it already is.

7.

“Think and wonder, wonder and think.”

Sometimes it's best just to let your mind wander and to explore some things you've never thought of before. Put away the cell phone, the laptop and the TV remote, and just wonder about things. Form opinions, ask questions, discover some new thoughts. Give yourself a bit of time just to let your brain do some thinking of its own.

8.

“If things start happening, don’t worry, don’t stew, just go right along and you’ll start happening too.”

It’s hard when we feel like everyone around us is getting exactly what they want: jobs, internships, relationships. Try not to worry about others’ successes and things you can't control. Be patient and work hard, your time will come too.

9.

“So, open your mouth, lad! For every voice counts!”

Don’t ever be afraid to stick up for yourself, whether its for your own opinion, for a job, a relationship or a friendship. Never forget how much you’re voice is worth and don’t settle for keeping it hidden. Your voice matters, so speak up for what you care about, even if, especially if, it goes against the grain.

10.

“Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.”

Use these four years to open up, find yourself and figure out what’s important to you. Hold on tight to the people in your life who lift you up and let go of the ones that don't. Take the necessary steps you need in order to find out who you are and who you want to be. Once you do, embrace it. Be yourself, and be proud of it.

11.

“You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, So get on your way!”

You’re growing up, and zeroing in on your future in the real world. It’s intimidating and overwhelming, but be excited for all of the success you have in store. Be proud of what you've accomplished so far and be eager for all the things you have yet to do. If you continue to work hard and be kind, your endless opportunities await.

Thanks, Dr. Seuss.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
