Moving. There is no doubt about it its hard and stressful, but that doesn’t mean it has to always be that way. Take it from someone who has lived in four different states, moving can always be an adventure, the adventure all just depends how you make it and how you take the stress and make it more productive.

1. Don’t keep things you don’t’ need:

They just add to the amount of boxes you then have to unpack.

2. Do make sure you have your memories:

Whether these are yearbooks, stuffed animals, or shirts make sure you keep them you may not remember the people that go with them but you will remember the places.

3. Do change your room every time you move:

New place, new room. No house and city is ever the same and neither should your room so have fun with it.

4. Don’t be afraid of the first day:

First day of school at a new school is always hard but the nice thing is you will always make new friends.

5. Do go and explore:

Each city has something different to explore if you don’t go see it there is no way you can discover how awesome that city can be.

6. Don’t get stressed over the move:

Yes, moving is hard; but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the adventuring that goes with it. Don’t worry about making new friends or liking the new school just enjoy the adventures of moving.

7. Do enjoy all the time you have in each city:

Whether it is for six months or six years enjoy it; make friends, join things and go see so many things.

8. Don’t get stuck in a rut:

Don’t be stuck thinking hey my life sucks, think life is great I get to experience new things and new people how awesome is that.

9. Do help your parents:

Not only is moving stressful hard for you but it is also really hard for them so try to help them as much as possible, it will make the whole thing go a lot smoother.

10. Do take a lot of pictures:

Those are the one things you will always have when distance is in between you and your friends.

11. Do always stay true to yourself:

If you are always yourself you will find better friends and you will just be a whole lot happier.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
