Every culture has its own unique qualities, and food is a great way to delve into another culture. Here are 11 foods around the world that that are definitely cool and certainly thought provoking.

1. Australia: Kangaroo Loin

Kangaroos are cute and fuzzy, but they're also delicious and a popular dish in Australia!

2. Hawaii: Poke


Poke is a raw fish salad that is popular in coastal areas, since fresh fish must be used to make it.

3. Japan: Fugu Sashimi

Fugu is pufferfish, and it is fatally toxic. Chefs must use the utmost cautiousness to ensure that their customers don't get poisoned!

4. China: Hot Pot

Hot pot consists of keeping a boiling pot of hot water in the middle of the table. You eat while you cook!

5. Nicaragua: Beef Heart

It may sound disgusting, but it's actually quite healthy and inexpensive!

6. France: Escargot

Who doesn't love snails?

It's a seafood party!

It's another dish that sounds disgusting, but it's considered a special treat in Belize that takes a lot of effort to prepare.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.
