11 Confidence Boosting Songs
Serving Joy

We all have those days where we are absolutely feeling ourselves. We are getting ready to go out, we get up in the morning and notice that six pack forming, or maybe everything is just going your way finally. The best part of those moments are having a banging playlist to get you to dance around the room and smile all day long.

1. I Love Me by Meghan Trainor

This is probably my favorite song ever. Not only are the lyrics empowering and happy but the beat is so catchy and makes you wanna do nothing but dance.

“They gon' say all kinds of things

They'll make jokes about my name

They gon' try to clip my wings, but I'm gon fly, I'm gon' fly

They'll try to play me like a game

I'll bet they're too scared of the fame

But I can see clear when looking at the mirror, saying God made me just right”

2. Sit Still, Look Pretty by Daya

An empowering, feminist song. Daya sings against the stereotype of women needing to dress up, be homemakers, put on makeup, and so on. She emphasizes that women push their own agenda and work for what they want in life, not what men want.

“That Snow White,

She did right,

In her life,

Had 7 men to do the chores,

'Cause that's not what a lady's for”

3. Lose My Mind by Brett Eldredge

I know not everybody is into country music but Brett’s voice is so smooth and sweet you can’t help but get goosebumps all over your body when he serenades you. Not to mention country music always has a beat that makes you wanna put on your dancing shoes.

“You put me on a roller coaster, fly me on a plane

You send me to another planet, get inside my brain

I knew right when I met you I would never be the same

But I let you take me over, girl, so I'm the one to blame, oh”

4. Work Out by J. Cole

Who can’t resist J. Cole singing to them? If you’re getting ready to head out for the night, putting on those sexy heels, and zipping up that new dress, this is the song to get you ready for a night of fun and mystique.

“Could you be my escort

Cause just like them two door Fords

Damn, they don't make 'em like you no more

Cole World, real Cole World

Them boys cool, me I'm on fire

Know what's on my mind, tryna see what's on yours tonight”

5. Imperfect Me by Boyce Avenue

As much as you might be feeling yourself in this moment, we all know we aren’t perfect.

But aren’t our imperfections what make us so damn amazing?

“Perfect love you'll never find

I love the flaws in your design

The imperfections that you see

And the scars of you and me

Are the truth of everything we're meant to be”

6. Just Like Fire by Pink

Pink has a great record for singing about rights, strength, and I mean she’s just awesome herself. No surprise she has made another amazing song that’ll get your confidence out the roof.

“Just like fire, burning up the way

If I can light the world up for just one day

Watch this madness, colorful charade

No one can be just like me any way”

7. Looking Up by SafetySuit

Finally ace that test, had an amazing date, your workouts are finally showing results, or you finally got the call back to go for the job of your dreams. This song is all about life going your way, cause that’s the only way it should go.

“It’s all in how you see it

Just a little bit of misdirection

Sometimes you gotta tell yourself that the best is to come and the worst times are gone

See some see a rain cloud and say, "no"

I see a crop about to grow”

8. Superpower by X Ambassadors

I’ve recently fallen in love with X Ambassadors and their latest album has some amazing songs. This is my favorite song to listen to walking around campus cause I feel invincible.

“But today I'm, I'm gonna superpower

It's a bird, it's a plane; Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne

I got that, I got that, I got that superpower”

9. Love Myself by Hailee Steinfeld

This song was on the top hits for awhile so I’m sure nothing more needs to be said.

“I'm gonna put my body first

And love me so hard 'til it hurts

I know how to scream out the words

Scream the words”

10. Undress Rehearsal by Timeflies

Now this is a little more sexual than I would like. I mean I’m all about self empowerment, inner beauty, work hard for what you want, and that these are the most important and attractive qualities in a person. But let’s face it, it is nice to get that little bit of sexiness in your day.

“Stop, let the credits roll

On star status, need a telescope

Magazines, that centerfold

All the dudes like, "She could get it though"”

11. Confident by Demi Lovato

Confidence truly is the most attractive quality about any person.

“It's time for me to take it

I'm the boss right now

Not gonna fake it

Not when you go down

'Cause this is my game

And you better come to play”

Now make your “Feeling Myself” playlist, blast that stereo as loud as it goes, and rock the town. Always remember, you are beautiful in each and every way and these songs are here to simply boost that confidence. Let’s face it, music can really get us going. Now go show em’ what you’re made of.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
