Coffee may or may not be the greatest thing on earth. It's a simple drink that can be made anyway you'd like it. Coffee gives you the feeling that you can conquer the rest of your day. At least that's how I feel. I'd like to consider myself a coffee-holic and these are my eleven confessions:
1. Coffee really does give you the feeling that you can conquer the rest of the day.
No matter what time of day you drink your coffee, one sip and you can take a breath knowing that you just gained some strength to overcome the rest of the day. Whether it be early in the morning or later on when you need that last leg boost to get through the afternoon, coffee is always there to help you conquer the day.
2. However simple you think coffee can be, you're wrong.
Coffee is not just black or light and sweet. It's any combination of milks, creams, sugars and syrups. Any way you'd like it, that's the way you can get it and it is oh so satisfying.
3. The smell of coffee instantly gives you a coffee craving.
It's true. That first sniff of fresh brewed, hot coffee shoots a feeling of need for even just a sip. The only way to fill that need is just to get your cup.
4. You want a cup, even when you just want to sleep.
On your way home from your crazy day and you know you are about to catch a nap, you still want a cup of coffee. You're exhausted. You know you need to sleep but you also know that a cup of coffee might make you just as happy as a nap.
5. When I was kid, I never thought I'd be a coffee-holic.
I could handle the smell of coffee but the taste of coffee was nowhere near pleasant when I was a kid. All the adults around me drank it and I can remember watching thinking, "How?" Now, I know how.
6. You know the difference in flavors and roasts by smell.
Smell the pot of coffee and you can differentiate between French vanilla, snickerdoodle, and almost any other coffee flavor. Darker roasts are stronger and if that's your preference, anything less just won't cut it.
7. You're proud of the fact that you can differentiate the flavors and roasts.
Not many people can say they can tell you a coffee flavor based on how it smells, but you can and it's okay to be proud of that. If there's anything to be proud of, it mind as well be coffee. You don't want to toot your own horn, but toot toot.
8. As much as you hate it, sometimes you crave gas station coffee.
We all prefer our favorite coffee before the dreaded gas station coffee. But sometimes you're running late or you're just thinking about it and you need that gas station coffee. You can fix it up just right and forget that it's not your favorite, but it gets the job done and satisfies your coffee needs.
9. There's nothing better than a cup of coffee in bed.
You dream of the mornings where you can wake up leisurely, make your coffee and get back in that warm bed to drink your coffee in the morning peace. Few things are better than doing just that.
10. It's part of your daily routine.
Coffee is one of the first things you think of in the morning. You have it with your breakfast or on the go on the way to work, but you still have it before you really start your day. Sometimes you get busy and forget your coffee but you know without it, you're screwed.
11. When you don't have your morning coffee, you get a horrible headache.
And the only way to cure it is to have your coffee.
