11 Ways To Get Festive With Friends

As the end of the semester approaches, everyone starts to get into that Christmas spirit. However, it can be hard to start celebrating when you're not around your family. Here are some good Christmas activities to do with your friends and roommates when you're finishing up your fall semester.

1. Decorate!

Decorating your room, suite, common room, etc. is a perfect way to bring all your friends together. You can put up a (fake) Christmas tree, decorate your door with wrapping paper, make paper snowflakes, and so much more. If you're looking for cute ideas, Pinterest has plenty! Also, there is usually some sort of incentive due to a decorating contest in your residence hall, so why not go all out?

2. Hang up stockings.

Another cute way to include all your friend sis to pick up some stockings. The dollar store always has them, so it is a cute and cheap way to be festive. Grab some glitter glue or some sharpies and write your names on your stockings too!

3. Look at the lights on campus.

Almost every college campus puts up pretty lights on the foliage during the winter, and just taking a walk at night to look at them is a fun and easy thing to do. Invite a few friends and enjoy the lights!

4. Yankee Swap.

Everyone is on a budget, yet also wants to get presents for their close friends. An easy solution is to do a Yankee swap, where everyone contributes one present and everyone then gets to open a present or steal one from someone else.

5. Secret Santa.

For a more direct gift-giving game, a secret Santa is a great way to go. Everyone can pick a name of another friend or roommate and then get a special gift for that specific person.

6. Christmas movie night.

Who doesn't love "Elf" or "Home Alone"? Throw on a funny Christmas movie as a sure-fire way to bring your friends together.

7. Get an advent calendar.

Advent calendars are fun to share with friends. Make a schedule as to when everyone gets to take a chocolate, and then enjoy!

8. Christmas music.

It's always nice to throw on some Michael Buble or Mariah Carey when you're all hanging out in the common room. This is an easy way to get everyone in the Christmas spirit.

9. Ugly Sweater Party.

Invite all your friends and roommates to have a battle of "Who's sweater is the ugliest" with an ugly sweater party.

10. Make cookies.

Everyone loves cutout cookies, and frosting and decorating them is a delicious activity for a whole group.

11. Make gingerbread houses.

Another fun activity is to sit in the common room and pair up with your roommate and make a cute gingerbread house.
