When I see the television shows little kids watch today, I can't help but think how much better the shows were I used to watch. I'll occasionally see one of the shows listed below on television and it brings back a flood of memories. You may not have watched all eleven shows, but there is a good chance you have seen at least one.
1. Dragon Tales
It was every child's dream to hold the enchanted dragon scale, say "I wish, I wish, with all my heart, to fly with dragons in a land apart," and be magically transported to Dragon Land. I tried it multiple times when I was younger, but for some reason I never ended up in Dragon Land. It was probably because I didn't have the enchanted dragon scale, but who knows.2. Franklin
Franklin is a turtle who lives in Woodland with his family. He often plays different sports and games with his friends, Bear, Snail, Beaver, Goose, Rabbit, Fox, and Skunk. Franklin could "count by twos and tie his shoes."
3. Little Bear
Little Bear was a bear (obviously) who played in the forest with his friends Hen, Cat, Owl, and Duck. His parents were Mother Bear and Father Bear. They both wore clothing, unlike Little Bear who was always a little bare with no clothing.
4. Clifford The Big Red Dog
I was always super jealous of Emily Elizabeth who not only had a dog, but had a big, red dog. Clifford's size was often getting into trouble with his best friends, Cleo and T-Bone. Clifford became big because Emily Elizabeth's love caused him to grow ginormous.
5. Dora The Explorer
Originally aired in 2000, Dora The Explorer ran for 15 years. Dora, Boots, Backpack, and Map would embark on a different quest every episode. Dora would have to tell the bad fox Swiper, "Swiper no swiping" three times to prevent him from stealing items. Once the quest was complete they would all sing "We Did It!" song and celebrate.
6. Blue's Clues
Blue's Clues is still watched to this day. It was about a blue puppy named Blue (Nickelodeon got really creative with the name) and her owner Steve who always had to figure something out by finding three clues. By the way, who knew Blue was a girl? I'm guessing I'm not the only one who thought Blue was a boy all of those years.
7. Zaboomafoo
This show featured a talking lemur who hung out at Animal Junction with Chris and Martin Kratt. They often had animal guests visit, which was exciting. The lemur who played Zaboomafoo recently died in 2014 and lived until he was 20 years old.
8. Rolie Polie Olie
The show concentrated on Rolie, a young robot who lived on Planet Polie. Rolie lived in a teapot shaped house and often went on adventures with his family or friends. Although Rolie was composed of spheres, his best friend Billy was composed of squares.
9. Rugrats
Who could possibly forget the evil Angelica Pickles screaming,"You stupid babies!"? Rugrats definitely is an iconic Nickelodeon show. It told in a perspective from six babies point of view, who always seemed to get into some sort of trouble. The little rugrats even had their own movies, including Rugrats in Paris: The Movie. The show was such a hit that a spinoff was created called All Grown Up!, which showed the characters as preteens.
10. Barney
Barney was everyones favorite purple dinosaur back in the day. Apparently children didn't realize that dinosaurs are extinct, aren't purple, and can't talk, but it's okay. Years later when Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato became famous, it became known that they were on the show.
11. Teletubbies
Looking back on this show I just have to wonder what exactly are "teletubbies" and why in the world do they look so creepy? But nevertheless, the show is a classic. It was revived in 2015 and toddlers of today get to experience the creatures.
