11 Bible Verses To Turn To During Tough Times

Being a Christian in today's world is probably the toughest thing to go through, yet the most rewarding. Here are 11 Bible verses to turn to when you are going through a rough patch and need His guidance.

Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12

These five adjectives are ones that can describe a true Christian. Whenever you see yourself being cold, cruel, egotistic, aggressive or impatient, take a step back and look to this verse. Aspire to live like Jesus Christ in everything that you do.

God can restore what is broken and change it into something amazing. All you need is faith. Joel 2:25

When you go through a tough time and feel like a broken person, remember that having faith and praying to God will bring you through it and will make you whole again.

Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

Let go of all of your fears and turn to the Lord.

In the day when I cried out, You answered me, and made me bold with strength in my soul. Psalm 138: 3

Praying will heal all wounds.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome. John 1:5

God will bring light through any dark time, and will overrule darkness every single time.

Set your mind on things above. Colossians 3:2

Don't focus your mind on earthly things–remember that there is a higher purpose to all of this.

I took my troubles to the Lord; I cried out to him. He answered my prayer. Psalm 120:1

Again, prayer heals all wounds.

Whenever you feel unloved, unimportant or insecure, remember to whom you belong. Ephesians 2:19-22

God will always love you and see you as important. Looking to Him will help you feel secure in His name.

God is within her, she will not fall. Psalm 46:5

You will never fail when God is within you.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

Turn to the Lord in situations when you are not sure what to do; He will be able to make the decision far better than you can alone.

Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him. James 1:12

We will all go through tough times, but what really matters is how you get yourself through it. There will be many, many times where people will test your faith and try to get you to go against it. Getting through that and never turning away from Him will give you an eternity of happiness.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
