As Dr. Seuss once said, “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.” For college kids, we have the brains in our head and the feet in our Birkenstocks, but it’s steering ourselves in a direction that becomes difficult. From exams to papers to clubs to work, college can be a stressful and confusing time. College students are now off on their own, making decisions that will affect the rest of their lives. How do we deal with the confusion and stress? Open the bible and listen to the one who has all of the answers.
1. When you feel alone
“When they call to me, I will answer them; when they are in trouble, I will be with them.” Psalm 91:15
2. When you feel anxious
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:6-7
3. When you feel confused
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9
4. When you feel overwhelmed
“Do not be afraid. I will save you. I have called you by name -- you are mine. When you pass through deep waters, I will be with you; your troubles will not overwhelm you. When you pass throughfire , you will not be burned; the hard trials that come will not hurt you. For I am the Lord, your God… because you are precious to me and because I love you and give you honor, do not be afraid -- I am with you!” Isaiah 43:1-5
5. When you feel nervous
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”Isaiah 41:10
6. When you feel lost
“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep” Luke 15:4-6
7. When you feel tired
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:28-29
8. When you feel sad
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
9. When you feel weak
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:8
10. When you feel tempted
“So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:12-13
11. When you are fearing the future
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:11-13
Trust in the Lord on this journey.
