Weeks are busy, school is hard, and just about everything distracts us from what our main focus should be. While we're struggling to keep our lives under control, the Lord wants our time to know us and heal us and refresh us. Whether this is the most or least stressful week, Scripture is beyond necessary to bring our minds back to focus on the Lord's goodness, love and sovereignty. Here are 11 pieces of Scripture from the Lord to remind us that in the midst of our most distracting weeks, God is always first.
1. Titus 3:3-7
"For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life."
2. 2 Timothy 1:6-7
"For this reason, I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control."
3. Philippians 3:13-14
"Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."
4. Colossians 2:13-14
"And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross."
5. 1 Timothy 4:10
"For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe."
6. Titus 1:2
"...In hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, promised before the ages began..."
7. 1 Peter 2:5
"...You yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ."
8. 1 John 3:1-2
"See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is."
9. John 3:31
"He who comes from above is above all. He who is of the earth belongs to the earth and speaks in an earthly way. He who comes from heaven is above all."
10. Galatians 3:28-29
"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise."
11. 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10
"For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him."
