Over the last few months, I have spent my lunches and dinners exploring the incredible food options my home city has to offer. I have eaten an abundance of delightful pizzas, but have decided to narrow my list down to my 10 favorite spots in the Richmond area. So in no particular order, here are a sampling of the best pizzas in the RVA!

1. Angela's Ristorante and Pizzeria

425 North Ridge Road, Richmond, VA 23229

An excellent spot! The pizza had some of the best crust I have ever had. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. Also tried the lasagna dish which was exceptional. Angela's is on the nicer side, but definitely a must-try if you are in the West End!

2. O'Toole's Restaurant and Pub

4800 Forest Hill Avenue, Richmond, VA 23225

Although O'Toole's is generally seen as more of a pub, all of the food was excellent! There is definitely the Irish vibe, but the pizza was still definitely worth the visit. For those of age, I hear it's a great place to sit down and drink a beer. Don't leave without trying the onion rings! You won't regret it.

3. Piccola Italy Pizza and Sub

1100 W Main St, Richmond, VA 23220

If you are looking for a quick slice, Piccola is the place to hit! Located in the heart of the VCU campus, it is a great quick stop for a good bite to eat. The staff were all incredibly friendly, and the service was quick. If you want a fresh slice of pizza at any time of the day, Piccola would definitely be a great choice!

4. Portico Restaurant

12506 River Rd, Richmond, VA 23238

A delicious meal with a view! Portico has its own beautiful patio, complete with a fireplace and speakers. The restaurant is in an adorable cottage on River Road, but the location isn't the only thing that is great! Everything is made to order and comes fresh to your table. The pizza has some of the best cheese ever! Don't forget to try one of their fabulous desserts! Trust me.

5. Candela's Pizzeria & Ristorante Italiano

2021 Huguenot Rd, Richmond, VA 23235

If you are looking for a casual spot on South Side, Candela's is the place. On any given day, you might find an entire softball team, a group of teenagers, or a casual business get-together. The staff is incredibly friendly and the food is exceptional.

6. Azzurro Restaurant

6221 River Rd, Richmond, VA 23229

I have been going to Azzurro's since I was a young girl, and it has always been one of my favorites. I have spent countless birthday dinners eating in this fine establishment. I have always gotten pasta, but decided to get pizza for ~research purposes~ and it was delicious! I totally recommend it. The bread is also to die for, just sayin'.

7. Tazza Kitchen

1244 Alverser Plaza, Midlothian, VA 23113

Honestly, my entire meal was phenomenal. The menu had a wide array of options to choose from, but I decided on the pizza, and I am so glad I did! The crust was exceptional, as well as the bread. Would also recommend getting the meatballs. A very unique atmosphere; I will definitely be returning!

8. Stuzzi

1 N Belmont Ave, Richmond, VA 23221

All pizzas at Stuzzi are made in the classic, Neapolitan style, which means that all ingredients are approved by a council from Italy. Additionally, pizzas are cooked and ready in only 90 seconds! A unique quirk about Stuzzi is that in lieu of forks and knives to cut your pizza, you are given special pizza scissors!

9. Belmont Pizzeria

602 N Belmont Ave, Richmond, VA 23221

Another hot pizza spot on Belmont! A great spot for carryout pizza. Absolutely delightful! Not very expensive and worth every single penny! I would also recommend getting the fried raviolis; they're wonderful!

10. La Cucina

11440 W Huguenot Rd, Midlothian, VA 23113

One of my favorite restaurants in all of Midlothian! An incredible family-owned restaurant with some of the best Italian food in town. Hidden in the Shoppes at Bellgrade, this spot is reasonably priced, but exceptionally tasty. I tried the vodka sauce pizza; you should too!

11. Bottom's Up Pizza

1700 Dock St, Richmond, VA 23223

Of course, no list of the best pizzas in Richmond would be complete without Bottom's Up. A classic in the Richmond area for as long as I can remember, Bottom's Up really does have some of the best pizza in town. Haven't found another place in Richmond that can do a thicker crust pizza like they do!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
