I grew up watching most of these characters on t.v. as a child. A lot of these characters I looked up to and watch them today.
1. Lashawna from Total Drama Island
Lashawna is one of my favorite characters because she was the only cartoon character on Total Drama Island who was thick and black. The other characters on the show were unrelatable because they were white and skinny. She had some sass to her which I didn't really like because it confirms the "ghetto black girl," stereotype. Besides that, she was a nice, smart cartoon character who made it really far in the show without being eliminated.
2. Dijonay jones from the Proud Family
Dijonay Jones is the long time friend of Penny Proud and I love Penny but Dijonay Jones is on this list because she was a dark skinned cartoon character that shared similar struggles like me. She had about ten siblings and always had to babysit. I only had one sibling but had to babysit cousins and younger family members when I was young. She was also good at poetry and so am I. She is petty just like me. In one episode she used another guy to make her crush, Sticky, jealous. That's something I would do.
3. Tucker Foley from Danny Phantom
Tucker Foley is on this list because he was a genius. Anything Danny Phantom needed to know, he came to Tucker. I wanted to be just like him when I grew up because being smart gets you everything you want in life. He was also a really good friend. Other people would see a person with super powers and become jealous but Tucker stayed by Danny's side and did whatever he could to help him.
4. Bill from Little Bill
Bill from Little Bill is a legend because he was a role model for me as a little kid. I remember thinking about doing something bad as a little kid and thinking about what Little Bill would do. He was into science and asking questions. Mom would turn the t.v. to Little Bill just to get me to shut up. It was something about seeing a little kid on t.v. act well behaved that made me want to do the same thing.
5. Susie Carmichael from the Rugrats
Susie Carmicheal should be higher on this list. What's not to love about Susie? She was the only well-behaved child on the Rugrats. She was always putting Angelica in her place. She never let Angelica take advantage of Chucky, Tommy, Phil, Lil or Dill when she was around. Her parents always knew where she was. She is so relatable because her parents kept a tight leash on her like mine. She always spoke up for what was right no matter what and her parents had a noble profession as a pediatrician and a t.v. writer.
6. The whole Boondocks cast
Even though I love all of the shows the following characters are in, The Boondocks is my all time favorite T.V. show. They spoof real life events in a satirical way that has me laughing for hours. To break it down, Huey (Afro) is my an amazing character because he is "Woke". Woke means that you are able to see present-day biases and injustices within American society. Riley (Braids) is into rap music, looking cool and fighting with his brother Huey. Granddad is your every day black parent who beats Huey and Riley when they get out of line. His interest includes catfishing women, spending money and watching tv. Next to Granddad is Jasmine who is mixed and she's so cute because she is naive and innocent. She likes to hang out with Riley and Huey who are the total opposite and their play dates usually end with her crying from something said by one of the boys. Next to Jasmine is Uncle Ruckus who believes that he was born white, has over forty jobs and outwardly disrespects black people. The last character is Tom who would be referred to as an Uncle Tom which is a black man who has given up his black identity to the white man in the form of servitude. In other words, Tom is married to a white women and his job entails sending people to jail as a prosecutor. This show is one of my favorite shows because, despite all the offensive characters, people like this actually exist in the black community which is why I can laugh at some of the offensive humor.
7. Chef from south park
Chef from South Park is a great role model for kids. He was always encouraging Eric, Stan, Kenny and Kyle not to do dangerous things. He also was the voice of reason the neighborhood when the other adults would make crazy decisions.
8. Rilo from Cleveland show
Rilo is one of my favorite characters because he is was made parallel of Stewey but they are opposites. Rilo is just a smart toddler who loves his mom. He is also easily able to talk his older step-brother, Cleveland Junior into doing anything he wants. He is way less complex than Stewey but they both are great additions to their show.
9. Irwin from The Grim Adventures of Bill and Mandy
Irwin made the list because he was smart. He is also funny. He ends every sentence with "Yo" which cracks me up every time. He's the grandson of Dracula. Surprisingly he is not a vampire either. I kind of feel bad for Irwin because in a lot of episodes he is the butt of some of the jokes in the show. His fearless crush on Mandy another reason he is on this list.
10. Betty Boop
Many people know Betty Boop for being a European cartoon, but there is more to the story. Helen Kane saw the singing style portrayed by Baby Esther Jones and illegally used it as her own. The cartoon is inspired by Helen Kane's act which was stolen from Baby Esther Jones. A lawsuit proved that her act was stolen. I listed Betty Boop because despite the dishonesty of the making of the cartoon, Betty Boop is still a beautiful figure looked up to by many kids everywhere.
11. AJ from The Fairly OddParents
AJ from Fairly OddParents is on this list because he was another male genius for me to look up to. Just like Tucker, Aj is a science brainiac who excels in school. He is also a good friend to Timmy even when Timmy is dishonest. Aj also comes from a responsible family like Susie. He also reminds me Stevie from Malcolm in the middle minus the wheelchair. All in all, AJ is known for receiving the best grades in the class just like me.
