With over 1 millions apps on the app store, it’s hard find ones that will actually help you rather than take up your limited storage space.
There are plenty of apps you’ve probably already downloaded because you’re aware of their benefits. We’ll avoid the the obvious ones like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. While these are essential (if you’re like me), you’ve probably already decided on whether or not you’re going to download them.
After doing some research and testing of my own, I’ve compiled a list of 11 apps that you won’t regret downloading and using your precious gigabytes for.
1. Sunrise Calendar
Sunrise Calendar is going to become my new favorite work calendar app. The app features include the ability to see faces and profiles of people you are meeting with using LinkedIn, the weather forecast based on your location and smart icons based on the topic of your meeting. It’s perfect for any working professional.
2. Toshl
New York Times says “of all the apps for monitoring spending, one of the hardest to beat is Toshl Finance.” Toshl is a simple to use personal finance manager. It easily tracks income and expenses, organizes your bills, and allows you to manage your budget.
3. Digit
Digit is another great financial app to help you stay on track. Their slogan is “save money without thinking," which is exactly what you’ll do with Digit. Digit is free FDIC insured savings app that will track your income and spending's and will transfer small amounts of money every couple of days based on your account. There are also no fees for transferring money back from your Digit savings back to your checking! You can download the app from the app-store or sign up here.
4. Prismatic
This app is the home for all your interests. You select your interests and topics and Prismatic will curate and find stories based on the popularity of the post. You can comment on stories, talk with friends and share the articles via Twitter and Facebook.
5. Buffer
Do you want to be a social media whiz? Of course you do! Buffer works a lot like Hootsuite. You can schedule Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google Plus posts based on when they’ll be most effective. Want to tweet something at a time when most of your followers will be listening? Buffer measures this and assigns an appropriate time. You can even see the stats of your posts and see how they’ve performed.
6. Zillow
As I prepare to move out, Zillow is an app that will for sure be on my phone. Real estate is a cutthroat business. You’ll often found yourself at the mercy of websites that hide the best properties from you because of a lack of information. Zillow is a godsend, as a result of this. The app crawls pretty much every property and real estate in your area, ranging from buying to renting. It proceeds to give you the information you need to get in touch with the property owner or leasing office, and the simple design makes all of this a breeze.
7. Fooducate
Foodies and healthy eaters rejoice! Fooducate is the app for you! When you’re at the grocery store, you may determine the health value of an item you’re considering based on what you recognize on the label. The problem is that most of us don’t know what a lot of the ingredients and terms we see actually mean, which leads us to gambling on food that may not be good for us.The database for the app grades food items based on everything from calories to controversial ingredients, giving you a clear picture of what you’re actually buying. It will even explain why an item has a particular grade and literally educates you on that item’s health value.
8. Google Drive
I’m not saying this just as an avid Google fan and Chromebook user. These days, there are a lot of cloud services to pick from, but Google Drive still ranks among one of the best, if only because it works so well on every platform. Google Drive allows you to save and view your files across multiple devices, including your desktop, laptop, phone or tablet, as long as you have the internet to access them.
9. FitBit
This app is perfect for those who try to stay healthy and works perfectly with your FitBit bracelet. The app works because it sets realistic goals for your fitness plan and gives you strict boundaries to adhere to. It allows you to keep track of all your meals, counting calories based on what you input (its database of food is huge) and calories burned through exercise. If you want your phone to help you stay in shape, don’t avoid this amazing app.
10. Duolingo
Imagine a world where language-learning tools that are as effective as Rosetta Stone are actually available for free on your iPhone. Actually, you don’t have to imagine this because Duolingo already exists. The visionaries behind Duolingo set out to create a premium-level language app that uses free lessons to make you a pro at (insert language here).
11. Venmo
Splitting a bar tab with friends can be a huge pain, especially when no one thought to bring cash with them. Venmo is an app that instantly transfers money between friends, for free. Using the app requires everyone involved sign up and connect your bank account. Then you can pay your friends back instantly with just a few taps on your phone. In most cases, the money automatically deposits in your buddy's Venmo account and is instantly accessible. Then your friend can put the money into their bank account, or leave it in Venmo to use in the future.
