11 Affordable Things To Do Over Spring Break

The time we have all been waiting for is finally upon us-- Spring Break! I don't know about you, but I have needed Spring Break since December, so I could not be happier that it's here. Let's be real, we're all probably broke, don't want to leave our beds, and don't want to socialize for this next week. I've created a list of things you can do over Spring Break that has at least one of those criteria.

1. Sleep / De-stress

Unravel all the stress that built up over the past two months. Whether you need time to yourself or time with friends to catch up on life, take this time to unwind and relax. Look for deals to a local day spa or try yoga at the YMCA or even in your living room. This is also a great time to simply catch up on those zzz’s!

2. Puzzle It!

Personally, I find puzzles to be extremely relaxing. Start with the edges first and together you and your friends or family can create a masterpiece.

3. Cook a brand new dish

I know I'm not the only one who has seen all of those videos on Facebook of delicious meals and desserts. We all know that we want to try making one of those dishes but the excuse every time is "I don't have time." Take this time now and try out a few of those dishes. Invite some co-workers over and enjoy these new meals.

4. Strike

Grab some of those fancy shoes and bowl! Bring your younger cousins with you for a fun night out. Dress up in your neon clothes and rock the glow bowl.

5. Create a brand new playlist

Whether it's for yoga, the gym, or homework, a new playlist always puts me in a better mood and makes me more excited to complete the task at hand. New music keeps your mind fresh, too!

6. Have a movie marathon

Super cliché, I know. Movie marathons with a bunch of your closest friends are so much fun ! You can have everyone bring their favorite movie and, since you won’t have school the next morning, stay up all night watching them! Make sure you make loads of popcorn and bring extra snacks just in case.

7. Complete that Pinterest project you've been meaning to do

I can't even tell you how many boards I have on Pinterest that are full of crafts and activities that I've been meaning to do. Paint that canvas, bake that cake, or try out that hairstyle. Spring Break is the perfect opportunity to try new things!

8. Re-organize your room

Put your nightstand on the other side of your bed. Take one poster down and put up another one. Paint your walls a new color. You have a whole week off to play around with your room set-up. Go crazy!

9. Gaze among the stars

Before heading outside, research star shapes online.

See if you can find these shapes in the sky. I know it's chilly, but bring a blanket and your closest friend or significant other and enjoy the beauty the stars hold.

10. Take your grandma out to lunch

I know that I personally don't spend all that much time with my grandma because I get so caught up in school and work. I know how much she would appreciate a nice lunch to Panera or the 99. We'll have the chance to catch up and talk about life.

11. Finish things

Finish reading that book you started but never got around to finishing during school. Finish watching that series that you started but got too busy to watch every week. Instead of taking this time to try completing a new project in a week, take this time to get older things done. Don’t overwhelm yourself with the task of completing everything! Choose one or two things you’d like to complete and get to work.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
