Yeah College Is Cool And All, But There Are 10 Things I’m Not Looking Forward To This Semester

What is sleep? Never heard of it but it sounds wonderful.

Now I don't want to be a Debby Downer because there are so many things that I love about college, like student discounts, the freedom, and all the new possibilities that open up. On the other hand, there are definitely some things that I can't help but dread with the start of the new semester.

1. Buying textbooks

Don't you just love when you buy the world's most expensive textbook only to never open it? Why do textbooks cost so much? Why is it mandatory if we never use it? Make sure to rent your textbooks from websites like Amazon or Chegg.com when you can your wallet will thank you.

2. The traffic

As a commuter, a good portion of my college experience has been spent stuck in traffic and we all know traffic is the worst. Have you ever sat in 40 minutes worth of traffic only for your professor to never show up? Let's just say it's not fun.

3. Due dates

It's the first day of classes, why is my first exam in 9 days? Why is everything due at the same time? Why do my professors hate me?

4. 8 a.m. classes

Every semester I tell myself that I will never sign up for another 8 a.m class, yet where will I be every Tuesday morning at 8 a.m.? Suffering in silence and praying that my brain decides to function that early in the morning.

5. Homework

Does this even need an explanation?

6. Awkward introductions

There's nothing I dread more than hearing, "Please tell us your name, your major, and one fun fact about yourself."

7. Sleep deprivation

What is sleep? Never heard of it but it sounds wonderful.

8. Lack of motivation

Do I know I have a paper due at the end of the week? Yep. Do I know I would feel so much better if I just got it done already? Of course. Will I instead procrastinate down to the very last possible second to turn it in and want to rip all my hair out? You bet.

9. STRESS

Once classes start, I turn into this big ball of stress. With college comes learning how to balance your academics, work, social life, and a lot more so at times it can be super hard to handle. I can't possibly count the times I've said, "I'm so stressed that my stress is stressed."

10. That it's ending

Now this one won't pertain to everyone but this fall semester means the end is way closer than I realized. I'll be graduating this spring and that means entering the "real world" whatever that might mean. There are decisions to be made and an endless amount of possibilities that open up but as exciting as that might be it also can be scary.

It's true when they say that college can be some of the best few years of your life. So no matter if it's staying up till ungodly hours to cram for an exam or wandering around campus with your friends for a late night snack make sure to cherish every moment. Because the truth is even though I might be dreading a few things this semester, I'll miss them when I'm gone.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
