10 Things Girls with Heavy Periods Understand

Yes, ladies, we can all agree periods sucks, but what sucks the most is having heavy periods. I look at the pool of blood and wonder how much can come out of me without dying?! Women are truly champions for enduring a full week of heavy bleeding and still carrying on with their day to day lives. You should fear women with heavy periods because we can fight through any sort of pain that is thrown at us in life. We, literally, stand strong as society expects our periods to be kept subtle and not complained about to the public. Some days, I surely want to throw down my pants and scream to the world that I am on my period and to give me some slack. Alas, I would be just marked as crazy and so I carry on silently marching down one menstrual cycle after another without complaints.

Having to change your tampon or pad every other minute out of paranoia

Shoot, did I bleed through my tampon again? Or am I just freaking out over nothing? Eh, I should go check to make sure I’m good.

Not knowing what a regular sized or small tampons are

The biggest way to upset a woman with a heavy flow is to hand her a regular sized tampon. The hell are we supposed to do with that? That pathetic little string would literally only last us barely thirty minutes of my time. Also, who decided to call them regular? Are we, heavy flowed women, irregular or weird?! Rude.

Feeling gross 24/7

I can just feel the blood oozing down below as the cute guy from class is chatting with you. You just smile praying it doesn’t bleed through your pants as you flirt about how boring this class or the subject is yadada while praying in your mind: “please Lord don’t let it seep through”

Avoiding anything white

White pants? Next. White seats? Next. White shorts? Next. You get the point, I am going full bum goth look for a full week.

Super sized tampons are your best friends

When a girl is super mean that day and you tell her to take that stick out of her ass… it’s probably her super sized tampon growing larger in her uterus. God help us all.

Can’t relate with girls who have no cramps during periods

“Yeah, I never get cramps and my periods aren’t too heavy! It’s going to be fine it will pass” Okay, screw you. Am I jealous? Absolutely. But basically it’s the same thing as saying “depression is temporary. It’s going to be fine it will pass” Girl we got no choice!!! (insert sassy clapping)

Iron Pills

With so much blood loss, home girl needs something to revitalize her iron stability!! My health is at hand.

Feeling like a fat, bloated, bleeding baby

With periods come a curse of cravings. I have been eating non stop junk food, and I am feeling the consequences of that the next morning. I barely want to work out because of my cramps and I am literally wearing a diaper to save me from the leaking.

Heating Pad and Advil are essential

A pro tip is to take Advil and to rest with a heating pad on your lower back to reduce cramping. This always makes me feel better at night.

Powering through like a Pro

At the end, I respect the heavy flow women. We know how to power through like a champ despite the horrible bleeding and side effects of it as well! Good for us!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
