1. Madison Memorial Union Terrace
If you want really good ice cream, and a view to go with it then you must go to the Union. Sitting on the pier of Lake Mendota at sunset with a couple scoops of union utopia (my favorite flavor) is nothing short of summertime bliss. They also have live music and movie nights as well!
2. Door County
If you haven’t been to this little Wisconsin spot of heaven, then you absolutely must this summer. Everything from its scenic beaches and lighthouses, to its cute shops and endless supply of good ice cream makes it the perfect Wisconsin summer getaway.
3. Bradford Beach
Lake Michigan is beautiful year round in Milwaukee, but it is definitely looking its best in the summertime. Bradford beach is a hotspot in the summer, and it’s one of the many things that make summer in Milwaukee great.
4. Madison Farmer’s Market
The farmer’s market in Madison is quite an experience if you haven’t been. Tents lined up with homegrown goodness offer many different things! Some include veggies, fruit, flowers, baked goods, honey, and of course cheese! (cause Wisconsin) Also it takes place right on capital square with our beautiful capital building as the centerpiece!
5. Summerfest
Another great Milwaukee summer activity, Summerfest is the world’s largest music festival. Besides the music, there is plenty of food, games, rides, and shops. Some of the big headliners this year are Selena Gomez, Luke Bryan, Jason Derulo, and Tim McGraw. There are also many free concerts as well!
6. Devil’s Lake State Park
If you’re looking for some good hiking trails, Devil’s Lake in Baraboo boasts some of the best views. There are also a couple good beaches if you are looking to just relax! For the more adventurous, Pewit’s Nest Natural Area near by has some amazing waterfalls!
7. Wisconsin Dells
I would argue that there really is no place in the world like the Wisconsin Dells. The waterpark capital of the world does not disappoint with its abundance of amusement parks and entertainment. There isn’t a shortage of good food either, (Moose Jaw Pizza is my fav) or shopping! Also there are some great natural areas too that you can explore by Lake Delton!
8. Shake The Lake
If you are near Madison for the 4th of July and looking for an amazing fireworks show, Shake The Lake will not disappoint! Celebrate Independence Day as it should be with spectacular fireworks over beautiful Lake Mendota!
9. Wisconsin State Fair
Rides, deep-fried food, and shopping, what could be better? Definitely go this summer if you haven’t been! Don’t forget to check out the animals when you are there, many 4-h kids exhibit their animals at the fair as well as their other projects, there are a lot of cool ones to see!
10. Lake Superior
If you ever get a chance to go up by Lake Superior, you have to visit the town of Bayfield! The area around it is beautiful with Madeline Island right by it! Bayfield is a cute little town with neat little shops right by the water. If you are looking for more adventure, take a guided kayak tour through the sea caves of the Apostle Islands!
