Police everywhere have their own stories of the weirdest criminals they have seen, but here is a list of the weirdest crimes documented in the United States history. With 7.4 billion people in this world, some of them are bound to be a little unpredictable.

1. Man Robs Gas Station for Banana

This incident occurred in Newington, Connecticut where a man drove straight through the glass doors of a gas station. He quickly got out of his car, but only to steal one banana. The man then casually drove away eating his banana.

2. Hotel Room Break-in

Although many people have items stolen from them out of their hotel rooms, this thief did not take any, he only ordered room service! The police in Virginia said that this was not that uncommon. Many people even break in to do their own laundry or sleep in their beds. Being a maid must really work up an appetite!

3. Robber Found Napping on Couch

In Lady Lake, Florida, Domonique Pinkard was found sleeping on a couch when the owners of the home came in. He had previously robbed the house and had taken almost anything that he could with the accomplice, and decided that he would rest on the couch. When the police arrived and asked him why he took a nap he replied, "I've been working hard all day."

4. The Swiss Cheese Man

The small town of Mayfair, Pennsylvania was on the lookout for a strange man who would stop women and ask them to place Swiss cheese on his genitals. The man with a strange fetish for cheese was found to be Christopher Pagano. He had exposed himself to many women before being caught, and even approached one woman on a dating website.

5. Couponer Sent to Jail

When employees at a supermarket told a woman that she was not able to use her $1 coupon on her purchase, she became enraged and shoved her shopping cart into one of the employees. Not only did she need to be escorted to her car, police had to taser her after she began waving a handgun around, and threatening the employees!

6. Photobomber Captured

While a family was vacationing and visiting the Wisconsin State Capital, they took their bags off and set them on the ground to get a family photo. Although purses and wallets are stolen all the time, this thief was pretty easy to catch. When a man went to grab a wallet from the pile of bags, the picture taker caught him in the back of their family photo. It did not take police long to find the man after that!

7. Mr. Monkey Man

When police approached Mark Loescher in front of a Wells Fargo Bank, he was holding a gun and talking on the phone. When asked, he claimed to have been talking to the "Fusion Center" and was trying to get more monkey blood. He also claimed to be part orangutan. Just before police arrested him, he claimed to be friends with Elvis Presley and George Bush.

8. Bank Robber Escapes Wife

Another bank robbery occurred in Pennsylvania, but tellers knew that this was not the average robber. Anthony Miller asked for the money, and once he received it, he did not try to flee. Instead, he asked if the police were called, and willingly went with them. He later confessed that he wanted to be arrested to get away from his abusive wife who threatened to kill herself if he left her. Not only did Miller get arrested, but his wife also filed for divorce.

9. Fruit Fight

After police were called to the scene of a woman claiming her boyfriend abused her with a banana, Phillip Smolinsky was arrested for domestic violence. The woman claimed he threw a banana at her, but when questioned, he claimed she threw one at him. The evidence found at the scene included a banana in the garbage and peels on the ground.

10. Spider Held Hostage

Brian Smith of Kansas held a friend's pet spider hostage after he agreed to watch it while the owner went out of town. When the owner asked for the spider back, Smith demanded $100 or he would kill the spider. He also threatened to shoot the spider's owner, and once police arrived they also found a stolen Siberian Husky and a 14-year-old kid hiding in a closet.
