Every person is different, and therefore has a different area where they feel able to relax. For some, that may be outside in the fresh air, where the background noise takes them away from their thoughts. Others may feel the exact opposite; noise and light makes them anxious, causing them to long for isolation. Whatever your safe space is, get to it! Don't linger in areas where you feel a sense of discomfort, even if there is no present threat. Nobody should have to stay in a place that irks them.

Sometimes your body doesn't feel up to leaving your room. You don't feel like talking a walk or exercising, and you're hesitant to grab your phone and find someone to talk to. That's okay. Being alone is a normal human instinct, and everyone feels like becoming a hermit every once in awhile.

A quick way to enhance your environment is with ambiance. Distract yourself from the thoughts that are clouding you and focus on the task at hand. This can be done with some amazing sites that have helped me along the way when life was just too much to handle.

1. Thisissand

Create colorful sand art in any form that you wish, or just watch it fill the entire screen. It's so soothing.

2. Pollock

Inspired by abstract artist Jackson Pollock, you too can create work like his own! Move your mouse across the screen to release globs of paint, and click the mouse to change the color.

3. Rainymood

The perfect website for any rain lover who hasn't been blessed with the weather lately. The gentle sounds of a rainstorm will make you feel like it's real. You can also download this as an app on your phone if you're on the go!

4. Sounddrown

Rain isn't your favorite? Prefer the sound of waves, white noise, or maybe a coffee shop? Sounddrown is for you, a website that allows you to customize your experience to your own taste.

5. Xoki

The sounds aren't getting the work done right now. You need something else. How about a visual? With xoki, you can customize colors to display on your screen in a calming fashion. Just sit back and enjoy the home-made light show.

6.Weavesilk

The title explains it all as you make your way through with your mouse, creating various designs at your leisure. The colors are bright and it's an easy distraction from the outside world.

7. Stress Analyst

This website does wonders! This is perfect for when you feel alone or have nobody to turn to. This website is designed to calm you down when you're feeling stressed/anxious. I've never seen such a reasonable site that puts things into simple terms; it helps you realize what you are feeling and slowly brings you back to the surface.

8. Akinator

Your favorite childhood game of 20 questions has made it's way to the Internet, and it's still unbeatable. Thinking of a supporting role in an unpopular show? Akinator knows it, and it may take you awhile until you find one that he doesn't know. Perfect way to kill some time.

9. CrashCourse

John Green (author of books such as The Fault In Our Stars & Paper Towns) and his brother Hank are well-known for their YouTube channel. Here, they have blessed us with a channel where you can get a quick lesson on anything your little heart desires. Curious about physics, history, or philosophy? They have it, and they produce it in a way that makes you want to learn more. Sit back and watch the time go by as they bring you into the light of knowledge.

10. Do Nothing For 2 Minutes

For a change of pace, we're gonna do nothing. Literally. Watch the time go down and take a moment to reflect. Empty your thoughts.

Everyone needs a break sometimes (or every time they look at the pile of work they have to do over the weekend). This is totally normal, and you shouldn't be ashamed that you have an urge to clear your mind. Stay positive my friends!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
