For as long as I can remember, I've worn glasses or contacts. I'm near-sighted, which means I can see things close up, but things farther away appear blurry. My vision is quite poor as far away for me is about 5 inches from my face. I'm so attuned to having poor vision now, however, that I can never imagine being without it. So here is some things I've heard throughout my life related to my vision:

1. "How many fingers am I holding up?"

You take off your glasses or your contacts and this question always comes up. Listen, I'm not blind. I can see you're holding up three blurry fingers.

2. "Can I try them on?" directly followed by, "Wow, you really are blind!"

Before: I mean, I'd prefer if you didn't but if you want to get a headache go right ahead. After: Yeah, I told you.

3. "You look better with/without your glasses."

I didn't really ask but I think I look just fine both ways, thank you.

4. "You must be smart, you wear glasses."

I mean, the two don't really correlate, but I think I am pretty smart, thanks.

5. "Hang on, I can't hear you, I've got to put on my glasses."

Every person who wears glasses has at least said this once. We all know you can't read other people's lips to see what they're saying without our glasses.

6. "Why don't you ever wear sunglasses?"

I wish I could but, I'd look a little silly wearing sunglasses over my regular glasses.

7. "Your glasses are dirty."

Okay, thank you, I'll take care of it.

8. "Can you see that sign way over there?"

No, I may have glasses but they don't really give me the ability to have superhuman vision.

9. "Why do you read under your glasses? Just take them off."

Oh, whoops, didn't realize I was doing it.

10. "You want to come to this place with me?"

No, thanks. My glasses are off. I'm ready for bed.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
