10 Ways You Know You've Found Your Best Friend

At some point in your life, you find someone that you know you can't let go of. Whether it's when you're five or when you get to college, this person fills the empty hole you've been missing. A friend like this is hard to come by, so never let go when you find them. Here are ten signs that tell you you've found your other half...

1. You can be yourself:

No matter how weird or awkward you are this person embraces you for who you are. No moment is too weird or to quiet. You can juju on that beat with no problem or just sit in silence for hours.

2. You guys basically have twin telepathy:

You know that moment where you finish someone's sentence or say the same thing at once? Yeah, you experience that all the time. You know exactly what your friend is going to say and when.

3. You voluntarily tell each other your most embarrassing secrets:

From the time that you accidentally peed yourself to when you fell down the stairs in front of the whole school.

4. You trust them to not say anything, even if you don't say not to tell anyone:

You don't have to say, "promise not to tell anyone" because you know they won't say anything.

5. You're basically part of their family.

Your friend's family greets and treats you like you're always around. They yell and fight as if you weren't there. You might as well be with your own family.

6. You can give them your clothes and know you'll get it back.

It is so annoying when people come over and ask to borrow clothes because you know you're never getting them back, but with your best friend you know you'll have them washed, folded, and in your hands by Monday morning.

7. They know how you'll react to a certain situation:

No matter what it is that is being said or done, your best friend will know exactly how you'll react. That's why you always hear them say, "I knew you would do that" or "I knew you would like (or dislike) that". They're always ready to react the same way you do.

8. You can't go more than an hour without communicating:

Whether you're Snapchatting, texting, calling, face-timing, or liking each other's picture, whenever you're away from each other you're still together. Those three seconds you spend a part have to be spent together through the phone.

9. You can sit in silence for 5 minutes or more and not feel awkward once:

You can talk forever, but you can also be silent forever.

10. They're the only person that can tell you the truth, and you can't get hurt if it's mean:

If you ask for the truth they will tell you the truth, whether it hurts or not. Maybe you're having a bad hair day, have something in your teeth, or your attitude is just not the best, they will let you know. It's okay when they tell you, though, because they're not trying to be mean; they're trying to help you out. No one else is allowed to do this, though.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
