I come from a little town form the middle of the state of Pennsylvania called Tyrone. It gets a lot of bad rep from those who live there and the surrounding communities — here are ten things you know to be true if you're from Tyrone.

1. You know most people by their first, or in the case of sports, last name.

Seriously. Tyrone is pretty small, so you are probably related to most of them, if not you definitely know them or someone in your family knows them.

2. Almost everyone comes out to support the Tyrone Golden Eagles football team.

Be it at the Backyard Brawl with Bellwood, or just a regular Friday night football game-- the bleachers are usually packed.

3. The school district number 68 on best ranked schools (out of 681).

Students will tell you that the school isn't the best, but in reality, Tyrone Area School District (TASD) is one of the better schools in the state. They are relatively clean, and have pretty high reading and science scores (PSSA) across the board.

4. The faculty and staff really care about the students.

The TASD faculty and staff are pretty much the best! The teachers really take the time to teach the students and make sure that they understand the content. And they are always ready to help you out when you don't get it! And the rest of the faculty and staff is amazing as well! Always so friendly, willing to listen, and always pushing you to do better! (Special shout outs to Mrs. Beigle, Mrs. Myers, Mrs. Redinger, and Mr. Wilson! And our wonderful main office secretary, Cherie!)

5. You will NEVER run out of pizza shop options.

For freaking real. There is pretty much pizza on every corner (and the corners that don't have pizza have an auto-shop)!

6. W. 10th street is usually blocked off.

Be it HoopsFest, the Irish festival, Faith Day, or another community event! You are sure to have to take a little detour, and to find some friends!

7. Silver. Screen.

This is one of my favorite things. I love that we still have a movie rental in today's generation of technology and digital downloads. And let's talk about the cheap movies they sell! #yaasss

8. East End Hoagies or Jeanos.

Yes, they were better before the original owner sold, but they are still some of the best hoagies. And go get your Jeano-bolis before Sunday or Monday!

9. Gardener's candies.

Peanut butter meltaways. Penny candy. Cappuccino meltaways. Best. Ever. And to live in the place where the company originated? YAAAASSS.

10. Main Moon Chinese Food.

Is there really any other place to get Chinese? Ummmm, no.

And while, I plan on moving away from Tyrone when I am done with college, I am not ashamed to call Tyrone my hometown. We may be little, we have our problems, but I still say that it is a pretty solid place to grow up in.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
