10 Ways To Use Lent As Motivation To Make The World A Better Place

Lent is a season of 40 forty days beginning on Ash Wednesday and ending on Holy Saturday. It is a time of repentance, fasting, preparation for the Easter holiday, and sacrifice. People do many things to celebrate the lent season; many "give up" something they enjoy to demonstrate the sacrificial component of Lent, many fast, and many choose to use the Lent season as motivation to be a better person. Whether or not you celebrate religious side of Lent or you want to use this time of the year to better yourself as a person, here are 10 different ways we all can use the Lent Season as motivation to do good in the world.

1. Donate your old/unwanted material objects.

2. Participate in the #Do1nicething challenge.

The challenge encourages participants to go out of their way during the 40 days and 40 nights of Lent to do something nice for others.

3. Volunteer.

4. Reduce waste.

5. Compliment a different stranger every day.

6. Donate blood.

7. Pay it forward.

Buy a meal for someone just because.

8. Conserve water.

9. Register to be an organ donor.

10. Try and spend more of your hard earned money donating to worthy causes.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
