10 Ways To Treat Your Single Self On Valentine's Day

Just because you're single doesn't mean you have to feel left out of the festivities.

It's that time of year again. Valentine's Day is quickly approaching and people are making their dinner reservations and stocking up on roses. I want to bring attention to the idea of thriving on February 14th even as a single woman. There are some unique ways you could celebrate and make the most out of Valentine's Day as a single.

1. Buy yourself a present

Whether it be chocolate, flowers, or one of those obnoxiously large teddy bears, you deserve some gifts...treat yourself!

2. Watch a rom-com

We all love a little of "The Vow" or "How to lose a guy in 10 days". There's nothing better than a movie marathon with your gal pals especially when it features your celebrity crush. If you're really in the spirit "Valentine's Day" is always a classic too.

3. Shop around

Stores usually have holiday sales for Valentine's Day, go on a shopping spree and take advantage of the holiday sales!

4. Two words: Spa. Day.

Take advantage of the "me-time" for some self care, a spa day is always a good day.

5. Host a GALentines

My favorite way to celebrate! Get your girl gang together and do something fun as a group to make some memories with people you care about.

6. Take a road trip

Take some time for yourself, get out of your town and go somewhere you've never been. It'll be refreshing and you won't be around to see all your locals doing all of the typical couple things.

7. Unplug

Go the full day or a couple of hours without social media.Take the day off so you won't feel left out of all of the mushy love posts.

8. Workout

I know it's different for everyone, but i feel like working out releases so much stress that I carry around daily. Take a hike, a spin class, yoga, etc. to send your mind and body good and healthy vibes. Besides, the class you've been wanting to take that's always full most likely will have open spots on Valentine's night.

9. Wear something that makes you feel good

Whether this looks like your best red dress or comfy pajama pants, own it! You don't have to be with someone to dress up (or down!).

10. Spread the love

You don't have to be in a romantic relationship to celebrate Valentine's day. I'm a firm believer in spreading love every day, but if there's a specific day to celebrate it, I'm totally for it. Whether it's someone you love and care about, or a stranger, show some love to someone else today through an act of kindness.

Being single is a celebratory moment that is often overlooked. This is a time you can focus on YOU. Remember to stay confident regardless of your relationship status. Love yourself because you're amazing, worthy of love and so purposed. You go girl!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

28 Daily Thoughts of College Students

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
