Since working at my internship, I never knew the perks of having your Instagram on point. From a branding perspective, it is crucial for you to put out your best work. It is also crucial to make sure every photo is something you wouldn't mind your future employer seeing. Here are some tips and tricks to making your Instagram 10/10.
1. Quality over quantity.
It is very important to put out the best photos of yourself and/or your work. However, you shouldn't post more than 3 photos in a day. You want to intrigue your followers, not annoy them with content. Pick the best picture from that bonfire or festival and hit the post. You will be getting likes in no time.
2. What's your niche?
Are you a lover of nature? how about fitness or fashion? Find your niche and follow it. Post the content you love. if you love nature, post pictures of you hiking or the scenery around you. If you love fashion, post your ootd (outfit of the day) or a picture of your favorite items. If you are a fitness guru, post your healthy eats or workout gear. It is also okay to just post pictures of you and your friends if that's what you love.
3. Stick with one filter.
For the overall theme of your Instagram, it is important to use one filter and stick with it. Apps like VSCO, snapseed, and FaceTune have great filters to work with. If you prefer Instagram filters, pick one and use it for all your photos until you want to use a new filter.
4. Find a theme.
Find a color scheme for your pictures. Some prefer a bright color Instagram theme while others like black and white. Apps like VSCO are perfect for working your theme because you can upload all of your images and see if they match your previous pictures.

White and Bright - meghanrienks
Black and White - caitlinbea
Dark and Brown - hellokatyxo
5. Timing is everything.
Find the best time to post you pictures. Will your followers be on Instagram at 3 AM? Probably not. Apps like WhenToPost tell you the best times to post your Instagram photos. If the app is not your style, the best times to post during the day are 10 AM, 5 PM, and 9 PM.
6. Photoshoots are your friend.
Who doesn't love dressing up and taking photos? Use this to your advantage. Dress up and take some photos around town with your friends. You will have some high-quality pictures of yourself that you can post periodically. Tag the friend that took the pictures to help them get more followers and they may do the same for you.
7. Don't forget to show your face.
Don't forget to take a selfie or two.... or even three. If selfies aren't your thing, have someone take pictures of you doing your favorite things. If you love fashion, have someone take a photo of you in your favorite outfit. If you are an outdoor lover, have a family member or friend take a photo of you on a mountain. People WANT to see your face!
8. Post frequently.
My favorite users to follow are those that post every day. I always love to see what there are doing on a there day to day lives. It can be hard to find an Instagram-worthy photo every day so keep practices. Take pictures of anything you think would look great on your profile or anything you love.
9. Find a catchy caption.
I take pride in my Instagram captions. My favorite trick to captions is think of a "behind the scene" sentence that describes you a photo. Also, hashtag away. Hashtags are a good way to gain likes and get your photos out there. Also, if you are wearing or using a brand, tag them! You never know when your photo may be featured on that brand's Instagram account.
10. HAVE FUN.
Instagram is fun! I love showing my friends and followers what I am up to, especially on vacation. It is also a blast to catch up with other friends and users to see how their college experience or career is going. It is also so satisfying when your Instagram game is on point or when you get 100 or more likes.
Now that I have let you in on my tips and tricks, get started on that killer Instagram. By no means does my Instagram follow these 10 tips but I am working hard to perfect my game as well. Follow me on Instagram @beierlejohanna and we can go on this journey together.
