1. Keep things clean

I know we all hate cleaning, but nothing kills a good day like coming home to dishes piled up in the sink, stepping on a dirty floor, or walking into a stinky home (trust me). If anything, keep a bottle of Febreze on hand at all times.

2. Hang pictures or paintings

I am totally guilty of overusing this one, I probably have 11 or so things hanging on the walls at my apartment. Just be careful and don't overdo it or things can look cluttered and messy.

3. Keep a ton of blankets out all the time

I currently have 3 blankets laying on my couch and I'm not even sorry about it. They're used every day. My roomie and I literally sit on the couch with blankets on while watching tv and it's so cozy (yes, even when it's 80+ degrees outside) Who doesn't love blankets?!

4. PLANTS

This one is a MUST, If you're living in a dorm, apartment, townhouse, or home, YOU CAN DO THIS. I have 8 plants in my apartment and it makes everything feel lively. If you know you don't have a green thumb, I'd recommend either some cacti plants or succulents, as they only need water 1x every few weeks.

5. Books

I personally don't do a bunch of reading but lately I've been obsessing over this "invisible book shelf" I found online. It's like a floating shelf of books and things could be set on top of it (things like plants, picture frames)

6. Candles

Candles bring warmth and ambiance to any home. (and lets not forget, lovely smells)

7. Rugs

Rugs bring a room together, and at the same time can keep your bare feet cozy :)

8. Personal Touches

If you only do one of these of the 10 things on this list, make it this one. A personal touch in a home is the quickest way to make it more comfortable to you.

9. The Right Lighting

Floor lamps, bedside table lamps, coffee table lamps (you get the idea).

10. The Smell Of Freshly Baked Chocolate Chip Cookies

Had to save the best for last -- Any homemade meal can fill a home with aromas that will remind you of your parents cooking.
