10 Ways To Know You Are A Shore Lover

The beach has a way of calming you. You automatically feel stress-free and happy whenever you hear those waves crashing down onto the sand with the sun gleaming down on your face. It's my favorite place to be, especially in the summer. If you are a shore lover like me, you can agree that all of these things make it the best.

1. The food.

From your favorite pizza shop to the ice cream parlor you have been going to since you were a kid, your mouth waters just thinking about it. And it brings you immediate comfort and happiness.

2. Spending hours and hours at the beach/bay.

Whether you love going early in the morning and staying super late at the beach or going jet skiing at the bay. Nothing beats that time to relax and get your tan on.

3. Watching the sunrise/sunset.

Being down the shore makes you really appreciate the sunrise and sunsets. Waking up really early with your friends in your sweats to see the sun rising or walking along the water when the sun is finally setting. You gain a new appreciation for it down the shore.

4. The boardwalk.

Wherever you may be when you are down the shore, there is always going to be small unique stores and knick-knack places, especially with the boardwalk. And you obviously can’t forget about the rides and the surplus amount of people.

5. Looking forward to the end of the week.

You may be working or at school until summer officially starts. But every week you are counting down for that Friday when you can leave all your responsibilities and breathe in that salty air. When you finally get out of work, you roll down those windows and blast your favorite jams.

6. People watching.

You get people from ALL over who gather to the shore. It can be funny and interesting to see how people are and how they act in different social situations. You’ll see a lot of people not wearing shoes and a lot of people half naked.

7. Reuniting with your ‘shore’ friends.

Your friends down the shore are a lot different than the ones at home. You know that you could go weeks without talking to them and reunite as if it hadn’t been that long at all. You can fall into the easy-going routine of going to the beach and drinking a cold one with them.

8. Coming back from the beach and taking a long nap.

After taking a shower and putting on fresh clothes, a nap is the best feeling. The sun and swimming can exhaust you immensely so it's nice to finally rest.

9. There's always something to do.

You can never really get bored down the shore because there is so much to do. You can go to the beach, go to the boardwalk, go surfing, go kayaking, go jet-skiing, etc. Even if it’s raining, you can go to the arcade or hang around with friends.

10. You can go out to bars, pubs, clubs, etc.

Depending on where you are down the shore, you have the option of either relaxing at home with a drink or going out and having fun. You get the best of both worlds.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
