Sitting around all summer binge-watching Netflix may be tempting, but what's the fun in that? Whether you have a job, internship, or are busy with things life throws at you -- here's some easy ways to make the best of your summer time.
1.) Go on a bike ride/roller blade.
Grab a friend and get some relaxing time while also burning some calories in the beautiful weather.
2.) Take a trip downtown.
It could be Indianapolis, Chicago, New York, anywhere that's close to where you live. Explore the big cities close to you at home.
3.) Have a game night with your friends.
NBA finals going on right now? Gather up your friends and watch it together while enjoying each other's company (unless they're rooting for the other team, of course).
4.) Spend time with your family.
Everyone seems to be happier in the summer, so do your best to spend time with as many of the people around you as you can. Because for all of us college kids atleast, summer will fly by faster than we know it.
5.) Attend concerts near you.
Even if it's a free little concert in a little city, it's still a way to be around other people in the summer sun.
6.) Picnic at a park or your backyard.
This is for all of you broke college kids: Grab some of your parents food in the fridge and lay outside with others while enjoying a nice snack. Cheap, yet satisfying.
7.) Attend a pool party or go to your neighborhood pool/friend's lake house.
Taking advantage of a pool while you can never fails to be a good time. Maybe even follow it up with a BBQ and enjoy grillin' out.
8.) Learn something new that you've always wanted to learn.
Whether it's playing the ukulele for the first time, guitar, painting, drawing, or even writing a story/poem -- take time to do whatever you've been craving to do but can't fit into the normal year due to business.
9.) Discover new or old music.
Jam to new country music, or even dive back into those old songs that will always remind you of home.
10.) Help out the community with your free time.
Giving back to the community brings such satisfaction to me, and lots of other people out there. It's a lovely feeling knowing you can help another life by giving a little bit of your time.
It's not hard to get off your butt this summer and experience life wherever you're at for these few months. Go ahead and try that new hairstyle, make food for your family, watch that summer chick-flick, or even go to your old park you and your buddies used to hang out at. Whatever it is, enjoy wherever you are for the summer.
