10 Ways To Feel A Little Better On A Bad Day
Caela Gray

You're having a bad day.

Maybe your boyfriend broke up with you. Maybe you spilled coffee on the new shirt you just bought. Maybe you failed your test or were reprimanded by your boss. Either way, today just isn't your day. Whenever I find myself struggling with anger, anxiety, depression or frustration, these are the 10 things that I find to be perfect pick-me-ups.

1. Put on some pajamas.

Day outfits can be restricting; thankfully, pajamas exist and they are wonderfully freeing. The world can be overwhelming and harsh. Pajamas are and never will be anything but comforting.

2. Drink a cup of tea.

I like to think of tea as a hug in a cup. Some people don't like tea. I believe these people are mentally unstable. Tea not only provides various health benefits, but it forces you to slow down and calm down (partially because it's too hot to chug in one minute).

3. Bake some cookies.

Baking is incredibly therapeutic for me. When you're measuring ingredients, mixing flour and sugar and – let's be honest, eating half the dough before it reaches the oven – you have the chance to focus on one thing and one thing only. You become enraptured with the task at hand and give your overworked brain a little rest.

4. Go for a run or do some yoga.

Athleticism is not a gift shared among every human on this planet. You could be the most klutzy, clumsy person on earth, but you can at least go for a walk or do a beginner's class of yoga. Everyone knows that exercise is important for physical health. However, working out also functions as a terrific reliever of stress. If you're interesting in trying yoga I recommend heading over to Yoga With Adrienne's Youtube channel! She has sequences for all yogis and even has a video specifically for when you've had a rough day!

5. Watch "The Office".

A favorite of mine, because sometimes laughter is the best medicine. Take your pick: "The Office", "Parks and Recreation", "Bob's Burgers" or "Friends". Netflix offers a variety, and you'll feel so much better after spending time with some of your favorite characters.

6. Cry it out.

Then again, having a good old-fashioned meltdown is sometimes what your body needs. Letting out your anger or frustration is never something to feel ashamed about. Go ahead and have a good cry, and let go of today's headache.

7. Treat yourself.

This looks different for everyone. Go shopping. Take a nap. Buy a Starbucks frappuccino with extra whip cream. Whatever it is, do something small for yourself. You deserve it.

8. Ask your best friend to hang out.

From dance parties to late-night romantic comedies, a best friend's job is to provide solace. If you're lucky enough to have a friend who deeply cares for you, don't be afraid to ask them for help lifting your mood.

9. Read a book.

When you're having a bad day, the last thing you want to do is think about the worries of your world. Fortunately, the written word can be a wonderful way to step back and immerse yourself in another character's life.

10. Remember, it's one day out of your entire life.

One bad day won't cancel out the rest of your life.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
