You did it. You have made it through finals week. The constant studying, all nighters, takeout food, stress and, maybe even some tears, were so worth it; Now that finals are over, it is time to destress and get your mind and body ready for summer! Here are just a few tips to help you get there:
1. Sleep
I feel like this one goes without saying, but catch up on the sleep you didn't get because of finals. Just make sure you don't sleep your summer away!
2. Drink tea daily.
Not only will tea relax you, but it is also great for getting your body back on track after eating all that junk food (Bilberry and Oolong teas are two of the best).
3. Exercise
Incorporating exercise into your daily routine will make you feel more energized and healthy by releasing endorphins into your body. They don't have to be hardcore workouts, even going on a walk or swimming is a perfect way to make your body feel great.
4. Give yourself a spa day
Obviously we can't all afford a real spa day, but take the time to pamper yourself. Make a homemade hair treatment, face mask, or body scrub, paint your nails, or just do anything that will make you feel fresh and happy.
5. Hangout with your friends
When in doubt, your friends will always be a great form of stress relief. Vent to them about that teacher you don't like who wouldn't round your B+ up to an A- and they are guaranteed to understand.
6. Go on an adventure
Hike to a new place, explore areas you've never been and experience the subtleties of nature to relax.
7. Make dart art
Okay, so I may have stolen this one from The Princess Diaries but it definitely works. Fill up some balloons with different colored paints, cover your area with a lot of tarps, tape up a large white canvas, pin the balloons to the wall, and toss darts at them! It's stress relief and art!
8. Buy some cute summer clothes
A new wardrobe is the perfect way to adjust to summer freedom.
9. Begin a journal.
Writing is one of the best ways to let out your feelings in a positive way. Make an entry daily, jot down the good and the bad things that may have happened that day, and leave the bad moments in the past.
10. Burn your old schoolwork
Okay, I don't know if this is just something I enjoy doing, but starting a fire pit with some friends and throwing old school papers, bad test grades, etc. into the fire and watching it disappear is a great form of stress relief for me.
Now enjoy summer!
