10 Ways To Bring Christmas Spirit To Your Dorm

It's the most wonderful time of the year! December is here, the Christmas music has begun playing and candy cane flavored everything is hitting the shelves. Just because you're in college doesn't mean you have to miss out on all the festivities leading up to Christmas. Here are some fun ways you and your friends can bring the Christmas joy right to your dorm room!

1. Decorate your door.

There are plenty of ways to decorate your door, like wrapping it completely in wrapping paper or putting Christmas themed stickers and bows on it. Not only will you have the best door on your floor but you also bring Christmas joy to the hallways.

2. Make homemade Christmas decorations.

It's a great bonding experience and you can get creative. You can go simple and create things like paper snowflakes and cut out snowmen or you can go all out and decorate your own wreath to hang up in your dorm.

3. Get a mini Christmas tree for your dorm.

Of course you have to check with your school's rules to see if it's allowed first. If you're in the clear there are tons of places you can go and get mini trees, real or fake. After you find a nice spot for your tree in your dorm, decorate and light it up!

4. Christmas lights.

Let there be light! You can never have too many Christmas lights. To be safe use command strips or any other form of decoration hanging that isn't going to damage your walls so you don't get in trouble or fined. And for your safety and everyone else's make sure you unplug all the lights whenever the room is going to be empty.

5. Decorate gingerbread houses.

Stores like Target and Walmart sell inexpensive gingerbread house kits. You and your friends can get together and see who can create the best one.

6. Organize a Secret Santa.

To do secret Santa you get all your friends who are interested together. You set a price range and an exchange day for the gifts. Everyone writes their name and puts it into a hat, then everyone picks out a name. You buy a gift for whoever you get and on exchange day everyone finds out who their secret Santa was and walks away with a gift!

7. Christmas movie marathons.

Networks like Freeform love to do Christmas movie countdowns. Each day they play a different selection of Christmas movies to get people excited for the holidays. Check your tv guide and see when your favorite movies are coming on, get some snacks and hot chocolate, get cozy and enjoy the movies with your friends.

8. College Christmas cards.

Christmas cards with your friends are so fun and my favorite thing to do during the holiday season. Make or find a nice backdrop then snap a fun picture of you and your friends donning your best Christmas apparel. It’s a great memory to have and something super cute to show your family while you’re on Winter break.

9. Bake Christmas themed goods.

You can find inexpensive Christmas themed cookie cutters in the shapes on sites like Amazon or Michaels. They have many different shapes to choose from like Gingerbread men, Christmas trees and snowmen. Once you have your goods baked you can decorate them icing and little candy like M&Ms.

10. Go caroling around your hall/campus.

Last but not least who doesn’t LOVE Christmas music! Get a group of friends together and go around belting out your favorite Christmas songs around hall or campus. It’s fun to do and you get to spread the Christmas cheer to others

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
