- Choose a major that you are interested in and a major that you are passionate about. Do not just choose something your mother expects, or something just for the money. Choose something that you would love to wake up every day for the next 1,000 plus days, and learn about extensively… and then continue pursuing for the rest of your life. For you indecisive students, it’s okay! Even the students with majors do not have it all figured out, half of the time they switch and add minors or double major… it gets complicated. Take your time declaring your major and explore all fields of learning. A four year degree is suggested, not mandatory.
- Buy a calendar, planner, notebook, dry erase board, and/or cork board. Time management is key. Leave post-it reminders to study for your test next week and to finish your paper due Thursday.
- Early is on time. On time is late. If you are late, stay home.
- Join a club, sport, or team. Stay active and involved. Not only is this an amazing resume builder, you will meet tons of people who share the same interests as you. You will also meet people who can give you insight to new things that may interest you. Not to mention, many opportunities come from meeting the right people.
- Get to know the town your college is located in. Adventure out of campus boundaries and go to a local pub, grocery store, or park. People watch, enjoy the weather, treat yourself to some trinkets and nic-naks. Get familiar with your new environment.
- Enjoy yourself. Get to know yourself. Do not be afraid of new challenges, embrace all that comes your way. Grow, prosper, learn, and love. Make mistakes. Good ones. Sometimes repeatedly because forgetting the consequence is common. Do not forget where you came from, and who you once were.
Become the person you always wish you had when you were younger.
