Fall cannot come fast enough. As soon as September hits, I am ready for pumpkins, Halloween, sweaters, and all the works. However, no one lets me forget that it is still technically summer (and this year neither will the weather.) The weather lately has not been sweater weather. However, that will not stop me from getting in that Fall mode because I believe in my heart of hearts that it is Autumn. Here are some ways to get you in that pumpkin spicy mood even if it's technically not Fall quite yet:.
1. Dress the part.
It may not feel like Fall outside, but damn it, you can fake it until you make it! Work through the sweat and heat of wearing a wool sweater in 75 degree weather, and remember it’s for the Fall.
2. Eat pumpkin spice everything.
First and foremost (of course) is Starbuck’s iconic Pumpkin Spice Latte, which yes, is back if you somehow missed that. Beyond that, there is pumpkin spice everything. Cookies, cake, bread, muffins, toast, candles, and even toothpaste (probably).
3.Get a black cat.
Everyone needs their own Salem, or their own Thackery Binx. Just find one and your house will always be full of Halloween magic.
4. Go apple picking.
There is nothing that quite says “it’s freaking Fall” like picking apples. Bonus: after, you can make your very own apple pie.
5. Wear maroon lipstick.
Not only is this such a Fall look, but it also makes you look like a total badass.
6. Go to a football game.
I love dressing up in all the merch of my school that money can buy, heading over to the field with my friends, getting a hot dog or popcorn, and just screaming my lungs out for several hours. It’s a classic Autumn activity that I’ll never tire of.
7. Get some decorative pumpkins.
Hell yeah, look at those beautifully decorated pumpkins. (Remember if you use real pumpkins that they will eventually rot and look like a sad grandpa.)
8. Put cinnamon and nutmeg on EVERYTHING.
Seriously, it makes anything tastes like Autumn. It's especially good on oatmeal, but feel free to explore your options.
9. Watch some classic Halloween movies.
Might I suggest Hocus Pocus, Practical Magic, and Halloweentown?
10. Believe, believe, believe.
It's like with Tinkerbell: Fall will come if you just believe with all your heart! Believe your way through the heat straight into a pumpkin patch.
