I don't know about you, but I am having a rough time getting excited for the Holidays while preparing for finals and final projects. Not to mention, dealing with grumpy professors that don’t understand their class is not your only class is not putting me in the holiday spirit. Don't even get me started on the ones that are just as checked out as you, so they decide it would be a good idea to give four quiz/test in the next two weeks because hell, they don’t have to prepare a boring lecture if they give a test or quiz.

Before I rant anymore, I have ten ways to get you pumped up even through these final time blues

1. Get a Christmas tree

Stop what you’re doing right now and go make sure you have your Christmas tree up. Don’t have one? That’s okay, you can pick up a cute little cheap one at your local Walmart.

2. Decorate your Christmas tree

Have your Christmas tree up? Great! Now it’s time to decorate. Whether you buy the ornaments or make them out of empty beer cans and paper clips, Christmas trees are not picky and just don’t want to be naked and undecorated.

3. Deck out the outside of your house like Clark Griswold

While you’re at Walmart picking up your Christmas trees, pick up some outdoor Christmas lights. Make sure to get enough to put Clark to shame!

4. Bake cookies and candy

It’s time to be the next Betty Crocker. Nothing says Christmas more than having cookies everywhere ready to be ate.

5. Go Shopping

If you haven’t already bought all your Christmas presents, it’s time to get started. P.S. Retail therapy, in my opinion, is always a fabulous way to relieve some stress!

6. Drink eggnog

If you are not a huge eggnog fan, that’s okay! Grab something else and just pretend you’re drinking out of Cousin Eddie’s moose eggnog glass.

7. Wrap your presents

So you have the presents. Now take 30 minutes out of your day and wrap up all those goodies you’ve found for your loved ones.

8. Watch Christmas movies

Personal favorite (if it’s not already obvious) for me is National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. You also cannot go wrong with any other Christmas movie.

9. Listen to Christmas music

Some of you might already be tired of it, but turn on good ole’ Christmas music just for a few minutes and I bet you’ll find yourself singing a tune or two.

10. Start a count down

Step back and realize we are only two weeks away from going home and spending the holidays with our families. If you carry an agenda, put a little count down on there to count down of how many days till the end of this terrible semester. If you don’t carry an agenda, download a free countdown app. I promise watching those days fly by will help you a ton!

Once you complete all ten of these tips, you'll be on the right track for getting excited For The Holidays!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
