As college students, we like to think of ourselves as young and fresh, living life to the beat of our own drums, defying the boundaries that our previous generations have set before us. We're the generation that older generations may not seem to "get." What we may not realize, however, is how much we resemble those of an earlier generation: the generation of our grandmas and grandpas. Here are 10 ways that prove we are all senior citizens in disguise.
1. We eat early dinners
When your friend asks if you can go to the caf at 4, you're always down. Besides, if you get hungry later, you can always have your second dinner. You will never pass up an opportunity for food.
2. If there's an opportunity to play bingo, we're going to take it
Free prizes just for listening to numbers being called out? We'll be there. (Don't tell anyone, but we actually do enjoy playing.)
3. We look forward to taking naps
Did you have a rough day? Bomb a test? Are you just bored? A nap back in the comfort of your room awaits you.
4. We get annoyed when people won't be quiet
If it's quiet hours, please be quiet. Please. We just want to sleep, and you kicking a soccer ball in the hallway just isn't working out.
5. Crafting? Count us in!
Weekends without plans call for crafting. This includes but is not limited to: mason jars, canvases and calligraphy.
6. We have awesome dance moves
Let's face it: Senior citizens have some pretty awesome dance moves, and we do too.
7. Going to sleep early is our favorite pastime
When you finish studying at a decent hour -- or if you just decide not to go out for the weekend -- you're more than happy to hop into bed.
8. We love sweaters
There's something about a comfy, oversized sweater that makes us feel all warm inside. Bonus points if your grandma knitted it for you.
9. We're always afraid we're forgetting something -- and we usually are
Sometimes, senior citizens can be forgetful, and so can we.
"Did I have an assignment due today? I feel like I have something to do today. I definitely forgot to do something today."
10. We love handwritten letters
Even though we love texting, Facebook messaging, and Snapchatting, there's something about receiving a handwritten letter that makes us happy.
We have a lot more in common with senior citizens than we realize (or admit). We may have been born years apart, but there seem to be some experiences both generations can relate to. (And hey, we should be pretty proud of that fact, because their generation is kind of awesome.)
