10 Video Games To Waste Your Time On This Summer

You'd be surprised how fast time passes when you're playing games.

My family loves games. Board games, video games, card games- we do it all. Lately, I've noticed that playing video games is a great way to pass the time when you should be focusing on other obligations. These are just a few of my favorites.

1. "The Sims 4"

I put this as number one because it will continue to be my favorite game of all time. I have wasted countless hours on this franchise since I was in the fourth grade and it just keeps getting better. Create your dream family, or maybe a terrifying family and see what happens. Either way, it is sure to entertain you for days at a time.

2. "Call of Duty"

One of the most popular game series of all time, this is truly a top contender. New games are constantly coming out, so you'll always get a new updated version to waste time on. Every game is different and there are tons of game modes. I promise you won't get bored for a while. It does take some getting used to, though.

3. "Overwatch"

This is basically the "Call of Duty" of cuteness. The art-style and animations are a slightly less graphic version of the above. You get to pick from a variety of unique characters before you go into battle, so you'll learn to fall in love with whichever character you're the best at playing as!

4. "Peggle"

If you're a person who loves puzzle games, you'll love "Peggle." It's hard to explain, but for the most part, you shoot balls from the top of the screen and try to hit certain things as your ball falls down. I've finished this game at least three times and I still think it's fun. There's a multitude of levels, so it will be a sure time-waster.

5. "Viva Piñata"

Probably the cutest game on this list, this might be an animal lover's favorite game. It's an oldie, but a goodie. Start with a garden and try to raise the most adorable piñatas, based off of different animals! Lure in different species using certain flowers, houses, and other piñatas. I had a lot of fun designing my garden and making it into a masterpiece.

6. "The Wolf Among Us"

I'll start off by saying I'm extremely sad that they discontinued this game series. I played it years ago and it still is one of my favorite. It's an adventure game, where every choice you make alters the game in the future. The theme of this game is really unique fairytale-based characters living in our current world. There are quite a few episodes and they last about two hours each, so have fun!

7. "Rocket League"

My boyfriend has been addicted to this game for months! I was addicted for quite a bit and I have a feeling this summer will reawaken my obsession with this game. To explain it in simple terms: it's soccer with race cars. You can completely customize your car to be the coolest, too, which is always fun.

8. "Yandere Simulator"

This might be the creepiest game on the list and it is available currently to PC users only. The game is still being programmed and updated to this day, but the creator is allowing everyone to try it out for free now! You play as an anime schoolgirl and your job is to eradicate all the other potential love interests that could interfere with your crush. It's kind of a creepy concept, but the gameplay and graphics are really unique!

9. "Town of Salem"

This is an online game and it only costs five bucks! It's a role-based game where the towns' goal is to figure out which characters are evil and which are good. It's a time-waster and you will get addicted... in a good way! Every game is unique. Go check it out on your laptop ASAP.

10. "Injustice"

It's everybody's favorite superhero fighting game! One of my favorite characters of all time, Harley Quinn, is the absolute best character in this game. Plus, you can unlock cool costumes for everyone and upgrade your character as you go. It wasted my entire summer last year and I'm sure it can do the same for you.

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
