Valentine's Day. A day full of love and appreciation for the people who are most important to us. Some people love it, and some people absolutely dread it. This day of love can be a dream come true, or a true nightmare. And if you're a boyfriend looking for the perfect last minute gift, then it's more likely to be the latter. But have no fear, your safety net is here! Girls may seem complicated, but the simplest thing can actually be the best. Here are 10 Valentine's Day presents every girl would love!

1. Gift cards are your friend

They may seem like a cop-out, but trust me when I say gift cards are your friend. Girls are notoriously indecisive, so shopping for them can definitely be tricky. But giving her the opportunity to shop for herself is definitely not. Most girls always have their eye on the perfect outfit, but they don't have the money to spend on themselves. Treating her to a gift card is like letting her treat herself. And I promise every girl loves that.

2. Lots and lots of chocolate

Or really any food for that matter! Girls love to eat. They may try to hide it and look like a lady. But at the end of the day, there are few things girls love more than chowing down on their favorite meal. And giving her a night off from cooking dinner is definitely one easy way to make her happy. Just make sure you throw in some chocolate or other dessert, too. If you forget this important part, then you'll be back in the nightmare before you realize it.

3. A clean apartment

And if you're going to make her dinner, then you should definitely do the cleaning, too. I think we can all agree that no one likes cleaning. The worst part about homemade meals is having to deal with the dirty dishes after. Clean the kitchen and maybe even tidy up the rest of the apartment, too. A clean apartment can make you feel better than you would ever think. Surprise your girlfriend with that feeling, and I think you'll be surprised by how appreciative she is.

4. Go all in on traditional and cheesy gifts

I'm talking a giant bear, a huge heart shaped box of chocolates, and a dozen roses. Make it as old-fashioned and cliche as you possible can! These gifts earned this reputation for a reason. They're classic! They're funny, lovable, and she'll always remember who got them for her. Give her a box full of valentine's like the kind you used to hand out in middle school. Write cute little notes on each one to remind her how much you love her. It may seem cheesy to you, but I guarantee she'll melt over it.

5. Something homemade

Don't freak out, I'm not talking about anything crafty. Unless that's something you actually enjoy, then you should totally go for it! But it can even be something simple like a homemade dinner. You could have a picnic in your living room, or even build a blanket fort. You could also go really poetic and write her a bunch of handwritten letters. It doesn't have to actually be a poem, but just a few "open when" letters that she could read through whenever you aren't around. You could also make a happiness jar, including notes of your favorite memories, quotes, song lyrics, and reasons why you love her. Homemade can be simple, but it can also be very special.

6. Some time to relax

Girls are always busy and always stressing out. And although we know our boyfriends are just as busy, we still like to think our lives are so much harder. Does that sound a little dramatic? Yeah, it sure does. But that's one of the reasons why you love us! So take over some of her responsibilities for a few days. Offer to get her gas, her groceries, or any other small errands that tend to stress her out. Give her a chance to catch up on her favorite show, or read some of her favorite book.

7. Doing something she enjoys

If you really want to win boyfriend of the year, then you could even watch her favorite show with her! Or ask about her favorite girly things and actually pay attention when she talks about them. You could also have a movie marathon, but let her pick every movie. Yep, she gets to pick every single one. She'll love that you're showing interest in the things she cares about. And you get to give her a present that doesn't cost anything but your time. It's a win-win for everyone!

8. Teaching her something you enjoy

Girlfriends may tease you for your guys nights and your obsessive video game habits. But in reality, we want to be a part of them. We love when you try to learn about us, so of course we want to learn about you, too. Teach your girlfriend how to play your favorite video game, so then you guys can play it together. Or you could take her through all of your favorite things, like your favorite movie, favorite food, favorite candy, etc. You get to spend time together, and you just gave her plenty of ideas for the next time she needs to buy a present for you!

9. Going on a spontaneous trip

Fill up on gas and hit the road together! It doesn't have to be somewhere far, and it doesn't even have to be over night. You could make it a day trip to a town near by that you've never been to. Or you could book a hotel room and make it feel like a vacation, even if you're not far from home. And if you really want to go big and have the budget for it, then you could make it a weekend trip and go somewhere even further. Either way, you'll get to spend time together in the car and make memories the whole way.

10. Or having a simple staycation

But if you don't have the budget to afford any of those things, then you could make it a good old staycation. Turn off your phone, computer, and leave all your work at the office. Spend an entire day laying in bed and watching tv together. Make sure all your friends know you can't be bothered. Because this staycation is about the two of you doing absolutely nothing together. And I promise, it'll absolutely be the best Valentine's Day you've ever shared.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
