Here at UW-L, we have over 200 student organizations that we are free to join. We all know that our involvement in various clubs and student organizations looks good on a resume. But how often are we joining these clubs and attending meetings just for the fun of it? Of course, some organizations are going to align better with your career path but that doesn't mean you can't join an organization just for the pleasure aspect of it. Below is a list of student organizations you should consider joining.

1. Active Minds

Active Minds now has a chapter that is new to UW-L but is part of a national organization. The organization’s purpose is to create a positive force that is focused on changing the conversation and stereotypical stigma surrounding mental health on college campuses. The organization’s motto is “to create a happy and healthy college experience by sponsoring awareness campaigns and trying to remind the students of UWL to stress less and laugh more.”

Meets: The second and fourth Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. in Cartwright 257.

2. Cheese Club

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is.
