I believe it is a serious problem that so many foods are so underrated. All you hear about these days are avocados, bacon, the weird chia seed breakfast bowl junk and chocolate. What about the other foods that want some attention? There are some foods that are looked over. Do you like feeling left out? Well, neither do these foods.

  1. Hot dogs. How can you not love a good hot dog? Like one roasted over the fire with your favorite toppings. A quality chili cheese dog would make me smile right about now. Favorite hot dog shop: Franktruary.
  2. Cereal Cereal is usually just thought of as a breakfast food, but I would say that cereal is a comfort food for any hour of the day. I love me some cereal. There are so many different kinds of cereal and it reminds me of my childhood.
  3. Apple Cider Vinegar Apple cider vinegar has so many uses. It cures sore throats, it is a great skin care product, it kills fruit flies, and so much more. Get yourself a bottle and keep that baby in your house.
  4. Coconut It tastes great and is so exotic. Add it to a homemade Rice Krispy treat and it adds a little flare to a classic treat. I love adding coconut to the Chocolate Extreme blizzards from Dairy Queen to break up the monotony of the chocolate (although, can chocolate really be monotonous?).
  5. Pears In a world full of apples, bananas and oranges it is easy to overlook pears. Pears are great. They have a fresh taste and are easy to eat. Not to mention there are so many delicious desserts that can be made from pears; Pear Fruit Compote, spiced pear upside-down cake, spiced pear crumble, rustic autumn fruit tart, cranberry pear pie, apple pear cake, honeyed pears in a puff pastry and Pear-adise spice twists to name a few. I have not tried all of these options but I’m sure they are tremendous.
  6. Popcorn I could go on and on about this one… Have you ever just had a really good bag of buttered popcorn? My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Butter popcorn isn’t the only kind of popcorn though. You can drizzle it with chocolate, caramel, peanut butter and different candies. You could even go for the savory approach with cheese, garlic, or just some sea salt. Popcorn isn’t too greasy or heavy on the stomach and if you just put minimal salt on then it isn’t too unhealthy. All in all, it’s a great food choice.
  7. Cannolis What more do I have to say. Cakes, brownies and other traditional desserts are great and all, but it’s time to get funky with our choices.
  8. Rice Pudding At this point you may be thinking “what?” and that is totally understandable. I said “what” the first time I tried rice pudding, but now I am a diehard believer in the beauty of rice pudding. It’s so freaking good. I mean, maybe you won’t like it because of its texture and I can’t blame you for that. I tried cottage cheese for the first time this week and the texture was so weird. But at least give this poor guy a shot for crying out loud.
  9. Short bread cookies YUM. I love most cookies but short bread cookies are such a great choice. You really can’t go too wrong with these. They don’t have an overwhelming flavor and they are such a simple but wonderful cookie. Yet, they always seem to be the last cookies left on the assorted platters.
  10. English muffins Everyone talks about bagels, but what about these bad boys. They are such a good breakfast choice and they make for the best breakfast sandwiches. I am a lover of breakfast sandwiches, but English muffins also taste great with some jam or some peanut butter. Or both if you are feeling fancy!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
