If life is a reflection and those we encounter mirror parts of ourselves back to us, then the professors we experience during our college career will do much more.

They might annoy, inspire, and test us, but what we take from it is what ultimately shapes us. These are the types of professors every college student will experience

1. The chill one

We all have the professor who just gets it. Maybe it's because they aren’t too much older than us or maybe they remember what it’s like to balance work, school, a social life, and our sanity. The chill one is probably one of the best ones we’ll experience during our college career.

2. The one who is checked out

There’s a difference between being laid back and being checked out. This professor probably comes to class unprepared or late. This is a college students nightmare once exams and quizzes come along. Nothing was went over or reviewed accordingly. Although, there is a heads to every tail. This forces the student to take the material into their own hands, form study groups, and get creative when it comes to studying.

3. The professor who has NO chill

This one is similar to the professor who is checked out, but one a whole different level. Rather than skimping on course material, this professor will make you step up your game and hold you accountable for missing readings. They're usually the strict graders. It can seem extreme, but afterward you will truly appreciate their impact and how they helped shape you.

4. The attendance stickler

We all run late here and there. It can be a little dramatic when a professor counts a five minute late arrival as an absence.

5. The professor who is so damn passionate, you actually begin to care about a Gen Ed

Who knew cells and mitosis could be so captivating. This professor writes like a mad scientist on the board and brings enthusiasm to their lecture. These types of instructors are pivotal especially when it comes to a general education requirement. This is a trait we should all have when it comes to our own profession or life in general.

6. Mr. Monotone

Take the passionate professor and flip it around. You’ll sign up for a course that sounds so intriguing only to fight the urge of passing out due to your instructor’s lack of tone and inflection.

7. The Professor With A Heavy Accent

These professors are usually very knowledgeable in their field and just generally smart, but their accent is so strong that you find yourself teaching yourself and wonder why you even attend lecture hour.

8. The Hot One

This one gets all the peppers on rate my professor. Don’t get any ideas.

9. The new one

Similar to the passionate one, but with a few kinks. This professor might go by the books too much or not at all while they’re in the process of finding their teaching style. Either way, they bring a freshness to class like no other while reminding us the importance of flexibility.

10. The professor who will change your life

Think Robin Williams “Good Will Hunting” style. You’ll expand the way you see things to another level while also learning more about yourself in the process.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection.
