Ah... festival season. The season of music festivals is truly the most wonderful time of the year next to Christmas--just don’t tell Santa. While music festivals have boomed in popularity amongst the younger generations today, thirty-two million people attend at least one festival event in the United States per year (Billboard, 2016). There is something remarkable about the way a festival can draw individuals of different ages, backgrounds, and personalities together to celebrate a common purpose: to listen to music and to simply have a good time. Additionally, the fun and exciting atmosphere of a festival creates an opportunity for all people to express and enjoy themselves in ways that are not always fitting in everyday life. That being said, if you have been to festivals before, you probably have recognized that there are certain types of characters that recur at such an event.

1. The Veteran.

The Veterans have been coming to the same festival for over ten years, and do not plan to stop anytime soon. They know the festival map like the back of their hand, and can tell you all of the tips and tricks there are to know about having a successful time.

2. The Rave Babe.

Glitter, glitter, and… more glitter. The Rave Babes’ favorite additions their wardrobe is festival outfits and kandi bracelets, and they will spend all day and night dancing to the techno beat of electronic music.

3. The New Comer.

The New Comers are first-time festival goers, and are just learning the ropes of what a music festival entails. They are eager to see what the festival hype is all about, and are absolutely in awe of the energetic and eccentric atmosphere.

4. The Young at Heart.

Time doesn’t stop these music lovers. Nostalgic of Woodstock, the Young at Heart still jam out at festivals despite their older age, and are just as wild and thrilled to be there as the fans who are in their twenties.

5. The Die Hard.

You know the Die Hards. They are the fans who are always front row at the stage, knows every word to the songs of their favorite performing artists, and are dying--or are fortunate enough--to have a VIP pass.

6. The Partier.

Like most festival goers, Partiers are there to have a good time… but they are typically more concerned about the booze than the music. While a festival serves as a few days of good vibes and music for some, for others it is a nonstop rager.

7. The Zombie.

Sleep is not a concern to the Zombies. They are the ones who have been up for thirty-six hours straight, and are somehow still just as energetic for festival day three as they were for day one.

8. The Hippie.

Although they are often stereotyped, the Hippies are the ideal festival goer. They sport authentic tie-dye and flowers in their hair, and absolutely live for the peace, love, and music.

9. The Lovebirds.

Music is notorious for bringing people together, and festivals can definitely spark the romance. Lovebirds are either the couples who are attached at the hip enjoying the sets together, or are the ones who fell for each other at a festival and have been together ever since.

10. The Free Spirit.

The Free Spirits do not have a care in the world and expel positive energy on those around them. They are not concerned with their appearance or what others think of them, and along with the music, they love festivals because it is a place where they can truly express themselves.

No matter if you are similar to one of the personalities above or not whatsoever, attending a music festival should be welcoming and something everyone should experience at least once. That being said... stay positive, stay hydrated--happy festival season!

eye roll

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.

15 Things That Happen On Your Birthday

Do you have a small get-together or throw a big bash?

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.
