10 Types of T-Shirts Sorority Girls Own

Being a sorority has its ups and downs, but probably the best thing about being a part of your organization is the t-shirts (after sisterhood, of course)! Your closet is full of sorority t-shirts, and each shirt matches a certain pair of Nike shorts/ leggings perfectly. I can't explain it; I just can't resist buying that t-shirt for that event I didn't even go to. We all do it. Here's a list of reasons why your bank account probably hates you:

1. Recruitment Shirt

Yes, before you've even officially joined the sorority the t-shirt train is already rolling. You wear this shirt during Recruitment, and then only long enough for you to buy sorority shirts. Then, this shirt just disappears and isn't seen again until move out day.

2. Bid Day Shirt

Ah, yes, the crown jewel at the end of a stressful week: Bid Day tee. Finally, your first symbol of your new sisterhood. You probably keep this shirt until you graduate, and then you get it sewn onto a quilt.

3. Big/ Little Reveal Shirt

You definitely need to remember the day you got your Big, Little, Grand Little, and Great Grand Little. That's obviously why you buy a Big Little shirt for each year.

4. Semi-Formal Shirt

Of course you need something to mark the occasion of your very first Semi-Formal. And then your second, and your third, and your Senior year. It's sentimental really.

5. Formal Shirt

This is the biggest shin-dig for the whole school year. Not only do you buy one for yourself, but you get your date one too. But, if he's a bad date, the shirt never makes it to him, and you sell his to some other lucky individual.

6. Philanthropy Shirt

It's the reason why we're in a sorority. Of course, having a shirt to acknowledge the fact that you do, in fact, love your philanthropy is just necessary.

7. Date Party Shirt

These events are usually themed, which makes for really cute t-shirts! So it's more of an obligation to buy one really.

8. Social Shirts

These are different from the rest of the shirts because your letters actually share the shirt with another sorority/ fraternity's letters. These are very important, which is why you buy one after every social.

9. Sisterhood Shirts

It's our favorite part of being in a sorority, so of course we all need a t-shirt for it. Whether you went on a sisterhood-kayaking trip or just felt like having a sisterhood shirt, you always feel compelled to buy them.

10. Fraternity Shirts

If your boyfriend is in a fraternity, you generally wear his fraternity's shirts. If not, you buy your favorite frat's shirts to wear on the days you don't feel like putting on makeup or brushing your hair.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
