College is one of the best times of your life. You are given many opportunities, experience new life events, and prepare yourself for the real world. You also meet many people over these years. Some of them you might never talk to again, others might be your best friend for life.
1. The first roommate
He/she will most likely be the first person that you meet in college. Your relationship can go three ways: it can eventually form into a great friendship, it can form into a pure hatred, or it can be a casual friendship. Remember, first impressions are important!
2. Your best friend that is your roommate
This friendship is one of the greatest friendships you can have in college. These can occur either once or multiple times in your collegiate career. No matter how long the friendship, it is a relationship that you will cherish for the rest of your life.
3. The people you share a major with
Since you have almost every class with these people, you will become very close to them. You guys will walk to classes together, do homework at midnight together, eat together, even sleep together. Some of these people you will stay closer with than others. It's just a natural process.
4. The people you meet in GenEd classes
You might not meet anyone in your GenEd classes at all. But you might make some casual friends in these classes. These people are nice, and you might go get froyo and study together a few times.
5. The people from your various organizations
Sororities, fraternities, church groups, sports teams...there are many ways to get connected on campus, and you are bound to become friends with people in any organization you join. These people will always be there to support you, motivate you, and show you some love.
6. That guy/girl you met one night that won't stop texting you
Whether you were out at the bars at night or picking up McDonald's for lunch, you can always run into new people. This specific person might annoy you, or you might actually like them. Depending on the circumstances, this person might become your significant other. It's a 'Choose Your Own Adventure' with this one.
7. The people you meet by crazy coincidence
This person might have the same birthday as you, may have moved in randomly in the middle of the year next to you, or any other random factor that made you friends. Either way, you know that you won't regret the friendship, no matter what.
8. Your collegiate social media followers
These are the people that you meet on Twitter, Instagram, or any other social media platform that you might or might not interact with in real life. You could either see these people and be good friends, or you might ignore them entirely in public.
9. The people that you mentor through their life
There are many kinds of people you can mentor. Whether you are a tutor, have a little, lead a church group or are an organization leader, you can always have the opportunity to share your wisdom with others. Leaving a positive impact on someone is a great feeling, especially if they go on and share your wisdom.
10. The people who mentor you
This can be a professor, your Greek big, someone who disciples you, your guidance counselor...these people are the biggest role models of your life. These people are potentially your rock for your whole college career. You wish that you were as awesome as them. You can be, with a bit of their help.
The people you meet in college will potentially shape you into the person you are when you graduate. No matter who you surround yourself with, make your relationships count!
