Scared of the holidays? You're in luck. The Twin Cities has plenty of fresh events throughout the month of December to keep you entertained.

Here are ten affordable things happening this December in the Twin Cities you need to check out.


1. Foshay Tower

Price: $10

The Foshay Tower was once the tallest building in downtown Minneapolis. Now, guests can tour the observation deck that offers breathtaking views of the Twin Cities.

2. Comedy Corner Underground

Price: $12

The Comedy Corner Underground has weekly comedy shows to help you get your comedic dose in December. Located underneath The Corner Bar on Washington Avenue in Minneapolis, you can also score some good food before the show.

3. North Star Roller Girls

Price: $13 general admission

Packed with energy and entertainment, the female roller derby team put on shows in December at Warner Coliseum located on the State Fair Grounds in St. Paul.

4. Walker Art Center

Price: $10 student admission, $15 adults

One of the best art museums the Twin Cities has to offer, the Walker Art Center is equipped with eclectic artwork and interesting exhibits all through December.

5. Tour A Brewery

Price: Varies

If you're of age, the Twin Cities has an abundance of breweries that you can tour. Some noteworthy brewing companies are Surly, Vine Park, Insight, and Inbound.

6. Button Poetry Live

Price: $9-$15

The monthly poetry show is featuring well-known slam poet Ashlee Haze on the first Monday in December. Located at Camp Bar in the heart of downtown St. Paul, this is a must-see show you should add to your winter calendar.

7. 'I Am Somali' Exhibit

Price: Free

Featuring artwork from three Somali artists from Minneapolis, the poetic exhibit is put on by the Minneapolis Institute of Art.

8. Gold Medal Park

Price: Free

Located in Minneapolis' Mill District, this park offers 7.5 acres of unique sculptures and views of the city.

9. The Sculpture Gardens

Price: Free

Tour the recently renovated Sculpture Gardens, right next to Walker Art Center. The new gardens feature the iconic cherry on a spoon sculpture, plus plenty of new additions to give your Minneapolis sightseeing a unique perspective.

10. Prince Paisley Park

Price: $38.50 general admission

Although it's not the cheapest option on the list, you can now tour Paisley Park—the estate of the late music legend Prince. Located in Chanhassen on the outskirts of the cities, a tour at Paisley Park includes an inside look at Prince's production studio, wardrobe, and music/video recordings.
