10 Truths Of Military Dating

Whether you have a boyfriend, girlfriend or are engaged to someone in the armed forces you know how hard it is to not be with them and to miss them day in and day out. But behind every service man and woman there is an even stronger support system, and there are struggles to match.

1. The Distance Is Rough

Whether you are states away or in a different country the distance is the hardest part.

2. You Don't Always Hear From Them

During their time in Basic Training you won't hear from them for the duration of their time. Most Basic Training times last for up to eight weeks and even after that when they go to their next location there will be days that you don't hear from them because they are so busy.

3. You Can't Wait For Them To Get Back

Lets face it, we all count down the days till they get back in some way or another. And we can't wait for them to get back so you both can talk about the things that the other has missed and make up for lost time spent apart.

4. Texting And Calling Isn't Enough

As if the distance and time difference isn't enough texting and calling or if you're old fashioned, writing letters, isn't enough. You wish that you could talk to them for much longer but you understand that they have duties that they need to uphold and things they need to accomplish.

5. You Constantly Worry

We all worry about different things during our significant others deployment, whether it be safety or whether they are still healthy and having a good time, one thing is for sure and that is that we all worry. But it's normal, it just means you care.

6. Any Communication Makes You Happy

Back before cell phones they used letters to communicate, whether you still do becuase of phone issues or becuase you think it is romantic you agree that any time you get to talk is a great day. Not only do you get to hear how things are going but you get a big goofy grin across your face while you are reading.

7. You Are Proud Of Them

When you first found out they were going into the Armed Forces you were scared but you couldn't have been more proud. There were times you didn't want them to leave but you couldn't be more proud of who you are choosing to stand behind in this.

8. You Wouldn't Change Your Life For Anything

Sure, you could have someone else who didn't chose this life but where's the fun in that. You love your life and everyone in it, from your parents to your significant other.

9. You Love Them Wholeheartedly

If you are like me you tell them that you love them every time that you talk. So it's no surprise that they know it. And in your mind there is no number of times to tell them that you love them before you need to stop.

10. You Learn To Appreciate Your Time Together

From day one to the last together you learn to appreciate your time spent together because you know that it will be a while before you get to be with each other for a while. And you can't wait for them to get back, you sometimes may want them with you now but you understand that what they are doing is important and you love that they answered this nations call and you can call them yours. So no matter what situation you are in no matter where you are, don't forget that you are not alone in this and that there is a bright side to everything and they won't be gone long.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
