10 Topics To Talk About Besides The Election

Seriously. It's happened. We all know. Let's talk about something else.

10 Topics To Talk About Besides The Election
New Girl TV Show

In light of the election, many people think the only topic there is is the election and their thoughts. I don't know about you but it's a little tiresome to scroll through social media and see the same things over and over. It's also annoying to talk to someone who always finds a way to change the topic back to politics. So in light of recent events, here are some other things to talk about beside the election.

1. Black Friday deals.

It's about that time of the year again and it requires some thought-out planning to score the best prices of the season. If one put as much thought and effort into this as they do on the election, you would have a plan that would make any criminal proud.

2. Hyrdoflask stickers.

Hydroflasks are all the rage now, and a common trend is to slap stickers all over the bottle. The stickers can tell a lot about a person so next time you see someone with one, ask about them. What do they mean? Why did they choose them? Unless they have a political sticker on it, skip that.

3. Dutch Bros. orders.

New winter cups aren't the only thing new at the beloved Dutch Bros. The new drink, Christmas Morning, is basically as the name goes. Filled with eggnog, half and half, and other delicious ingredients, you won't be able to get enough of the amazing holiday drink. When it comes to Dutch Bros. there is never a thing as too much.

4. Christmas decor before Thanksgiving

Admittedly, myself and my roommates put up the Christmas tree the day after Halloween. We decorated the dorm, blasted Christmas music, and drank cider. Many will disagree with our actions but is there ever really a set time to start prepping for Christmas? I'll let you decide in this new conversation starter.

5. Football

Favorite team? How are they doing? What's happening this season? Did you know Russell Wilson is expecting a kid? Many more sub-topics where that came from. Just don't start arguing over which team is better now...

6. Favorite books

This topic could last for hours upon hours. There is never a shortage of books and opinions so it will sure to be a fun time. Plus, you get to discover new authors and titles along the way.

7. Will One Direction ever get back together?

Cue all the fangirls to come running. I think everyone knows how long this can go.

8. The Gilmore Girls revival

For those of you currently binge watching every episode in time for the new Netflix series, I applaud you. I have yet made it that far but on my way (slowly but surely). This is a topic that can be shared among kids and adults. Who will Rory end up with? What is going to happen? The drama never ceases. But hey, you will make a lot of friends discussing this. And if you've never seen the show, well take this as a sign and go watch it. An episode or one hundred, it's up to you.

9. Rice cakes

Who came up with them? Why give them the illusion of being cakes when clearly they are nothing of the sort? Are they a conspiracy theory to get us to eat healthier? The world may never know.

10. Who is Taylor Swift dating?

Well at this point the options are endless and the media sure isn't helping. It's all up to you to decide.

So there you have it. Ten things you can talk about beside the election. So if your mind creeps back into the election... just remember these ten topics.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
