Let's take a trip through classic film memory lane. The 80's was a great era of large hair and bright colors and some great movies were made with the names of Molly Ringwald and Mathew Broderick. Some great classics to start the year off correctly with procrastination.
1. "Sixteen Candles"
A classic film full of the mess of a hectic sweet sixteen. Of course, the American party scene of high school was forever immortalized within the house party that Samantha attends and the image of the independent teen further solidified into film.
2. "Ferris Bueller's Day Off"
This film speaks to anyone who isn't really in love with the idea of school. Follow Ferris around on an insane adventure with his friends. It's a great adventure and I always feel like going on a random adventure after watching this movie.
3. "The Breakfast Club"
Ever heard of the classic saying don't judge a book by a cover? Well, how about don't judge a teenager from their first impressions either. It's an original eye opener into realizing you honestly have no clue where people come from until you talk to them.
4. "Say Anything"
What more drama do you need than teen love and trouble with the IRS all in one film? It's a film about following what you love and having the extreme guts to follow what you want.
5. "Heathers"
The original Mean Girls, but with explosions and murder. Just a friendly reminder not to fall in love with sociopaths or hangout with people who don't have your best intentions at heart.
6. "Risky Business"
The look that has traveled thousands of Halloween and frat parties came from this film scene with Tom Cruise. Definitely not short of entertainment!
7. "Footloose"
*Cue Journey* Just a city boy born and raisedddd in...Chicago. A boy from the city moves to a small town and falls in love a daughter of Reverend Moore. A great film about standing up for changing times and music!
8. "The Outsiders"
I loved watching this movie almost as much as I did reading the book by S.E. Hinton. It's very likely that if you went to middle school that this was a book either on your reading list or assigned class reading. The film really gave the characters the life that they deserve to show the street hardened kids of the Greaser gang.
9. "The Goonies"
The super power of the best curious kids on the block...plus their annoying older brother. Mini Spoiler Alert: Pirate ships and adventure may or may not be part of their film. It's all in the spirit of sticking up for your friends and where you came from.
10. "Back To The Future"
An extremely genius scientist meets and teams up with a kid in high school to go back in time — what could go wrong? If you love this film be sure to watch the other ones in the series.
