Pokemon GO, the newest and hottest mobile game from The Pokemon Company has taken the world by storm. After being out for nearly a week, headlines all over are filled with stories of PokeFans going nuts over each and every little virtual monster. I am proud to count myself among the fanatics. And in my time with the game, I have uncovered a few things that every new and experienced Trainer should know.

So here is 10 tips to success in Pokemon GO!

1. Picking the right Starter.

As with every Pokemon game since the series' birth, the Starter Pokemon is one of the most defining decisions you make in the game. There is not a wrong choice, but there are right choices.

Think of the area you live in. If you live in say, San Diego, where the vast Pacific Ocean is just a short drive away, the Water Type Squirtle will most likely be your best friend. This should give you plenty of other Squirtle to help level up that wimpy starter into a fearsome foe.

2. Speaking of Leveling Up, what's the best way?

Hands down, Evolution. Evolving your Pokemon is the absolute best way to speed up the grind of getting to a higher level. Every opportunity you get to evolve those cute little creatures, take it!

3. Get out and Explore!

You won't be catching that Articuno or Mew by sitting on your couch. Get out there and get moving! There is a huge world of Pokemon out there. Not only will you discover new and exciting Pokemon, but it's a great excuse to get some exercise in!

4. Battery dying too fast?

Even though there isn't much you can do as of now, I have found a few small tricks that will give you that extra juice you need to catch just one more pidgey.

There is a Battery Saver mode in the settings menu of the app. By turning this on, you can now turn your phone upside down and send the app into that mode. You will still receive notifications when a Pokemon is near while it is in this mode. Also, turning off the VR mode when catching Pokemon can help as well, as your phone is running one less component while you are playing.

5. Catch 'em All! Literally!

Catch every single Pokemon you can! Even all those annoying little Pidgey's and Rattata's (trust me, I have caught my fair share). Each one you catch gives you more Candy for that Pokemon's Evolution tree. Helping you work even more on tip two.

6. Now, catching techniques!

Sure, you can flick the PokeBall like your playing Angry Birds and hope for the best, but there's a much better way! Try holding your finger on the ball before your throw. See that ring that's moving. The smaller the ring, the better the chance at capture. As long as you get the ball in there, of course! If some of you want a challenge, try drawing a little circle with the Pokeball in your hand and get it spinning. Soon you'll be throwing curves just like Ash Ketchum!

7. Battle, Battle, Battle!

Once your character reaches level five, you can begin to battle at Gym's scattered all over the place. It's is super fun and fast paced, but helps you level up your Pokemon and raise reputation for your team! *cough* Team Mystic is the best. *cough*

8. PokeStops are your best friend.

Once you've been catching Pokemon for a bit, you may notice that you are a bit low on Pokeballs and other supplies. There's two ways to solve this. You can either spend your real hard earned money on digital Pokecoins, which I advise against. Or you can hit up your local PokeStop. Here you can get all the supplies and eggs you can hope for.

9. Do not Pokemon Go and drive!

I know that you really want that Magmar down the street, but it's not worth the car accident. Get a friend to hold your phone and catch it for you or pull over if you can.

If you're a passenger though, go for it! The Pokemon will still come to you and as long as you tap on them, you can catch them at your leisure.

10. Find some friends and make a trainer group!

As fun as hunting for those adorable little creatures is alone, it is so much more fun with friends! Go downtown, walk from stop to stop, and flaunt your catches with them. You would be surprised how many great memories you can make while catching both Pokemon and new friends.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.
